Merlino is scrapping together money for his attorney in the hopes he can get a sweat plea deal of under 10yrs. If he goes to trial the risk is off the charts for him. Apparantly he wasn't getting enough of money from his friends in Philly that he had to dive into rackets himself down there in FL. Joey living above his means or gambling away all his money again. If its true about him on tape he is fucked. They will give him 15 to 20.JCB1977 wrote:He's well on his way to another sentence. Isn't he only looking at health care fraud and gambling?
I wouldn't have thought that would warrant 20years?

He has multiple felony convictions on his record so he will likely get the max if he goes to trial.

Did they wrap him up in a RICO indictment? Or just the two aforementioned crimes?

He has a slew of past Felony Convictions. He was lucky to only get 13yrs last time around. If he goes to trial and is convicted he will more then likely get the max. His only hope is to pay an attorney 200k in the hopes of getting a sweet plea agreement of like 6-8yrs if he is lucky. But if they have him on tape then that gives his attorney less to work with and will likely get another 13yrs if he is lucky. Just my opinion of course.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Isn't he only looking at health care fraud and gambling?

In addition to what these guys are saying . The recent gangland covers the Christmas/going away party that was supposedly held in NY which was attended by Patsy Porello , Merlino , Mikey Lance , Dom Grande & The O'nofrio guy. And Merlino was indeed captured on wiretap by "JR" and the undercover agent "Jeff" discussing various past and present mob crimes. Soo, even if he is only charged with two things , as mentioned , those tapes are going to do him in.
Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
I think the government will be happy to five him a 6-10 plea deal. I say this because after the Ligambi and Borgesi trials in which the government and almost everyone else felt they were going away for ever, the government will not chance another loss even with tapes. They will take the plea and get the conviction, another loss would seriously hurt the government in future mob trials, in my humble opinion.
In 14 years the bitch will be a real money earner, yes sir........

If he's "scrapping" together money, then he doesn't have any. Guys like him leave their families destitute at some point and it's coming...and you could bet your life savings on that. Goes to show that these guys aren't making what bosses of the past had coming in. All this bullshit for peanuts? I believe so as well. The Feds were so embrassed about loosing ligambi and the borgesi trials. They treated those 2 both so poorly keeping them with out bail and keeping them in city lock up. In the govt's eyes a win is a win, and would probably lock merlino up for a while and focus on pursuing more snitches and jamming him up with charges. Anastasia did a little thing in one of his mob scenes about how the Philadelphia Feds have a history of not doing the best they could when it goes to convicting the mob trials.bobbybats wrote:I think the government will be happy to five him a 6-10 plea deal. I dont think Merlino will ever be tied to the DiPietro hit he has a knack of staying just far away enough from that , on the other hand ....bobbybats wrote:I think the government will be happy to five him a 6-10 plea deal. Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Diego Rodriguez, Assistant Director in Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”), William J. Bratton, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”), and James A. McCarty, Acting District Attorney for Westchester County, Are all looking for a medal of honor there all publicity hounds , They Got Merlino as one of three boss's of the so called almost comical "East Coast LCN Enterprise" ...Preet Bharara is looking to move up to the Governors mansion , My gut feeling most these guys go down hard as hell for mostly political reasons more then what crimes they committed, The so called "East Coast LCN Enterprise" Bosses go down Hard , I dont believe any real pleas at the top of the ticket will be entertained as viable good deals just juxtaposing there will be a trial . Anyone whos been watching Preet Bharara knows he wont flinch at any power play from the rest of the alphabet soup or lawyers , There was also crazy amount of Violence and tapes in the indictment that wont help a plea ,Parrello 73 years old is facing 40 years max even if he gets 15 its life for him ,O’Nofrio is 74 facing 20 a plea for him would be close to life if not life , Merlino at 54 years old is in the drivers seat he could do the whole 20 minus time served and 15% good time he would max out at 16 years as of today if he blows trial,

Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
Theres not a 100% possibility that even at his age , he'll outlive a 16 year sentence . But he seems like a pretty healthy guy , so its plausible. But Merlino definitely isnt banking like the bosses from the past and hes always had the reputation as a bit of a brokester. According to the gangland article covering the party from 2014-15, Merlino basically requested money from Rubeo on two occasions , the second was for $5000, which he supposedly demanded on the day he left NY. The article also says Merlino never paid for his own shit throughout his time with Rubeo & the "Jeff" agent in NY. It also says Parello rarely "put his hand in his own pocket", I thought that was kinda funny. But it definitely wasnt an East Coast lCN Enterprise, it seems like it only involved Merlino, Parello & O'nofrio. Merlino also identified Michael Lancelotti as his "main man" in Philadelphia, could mean they're just really close friends. Could also mean Lancelotti has risen in stature over the past couple of years, while behind the scenes and could be the one whos actually in charge out there. I dont know though .

I thought that was odd that they listed Lancelotti has his main guy and not MAzzone. And that he didn't bring Mazzone. Also surprised he brought Baby Dom with him. He is a young kid who has never really done serious time or even faced serious time. Kinda like when Scarfo brought Leonetti to NY. A young kid who never did serious time. We all know how that worked out. Baby Dom is the main suspect in the Dipeitro hit. If they paid attention to history they would have whacked this kid already. Just my two cents. This Nicodemo kid starts missing his family and wakes up from his false reality with LCN..he rolls...then Baby Dom would sing like bird. I cant see a little guy like him born in 1979 doing 40yrs for murder. Lets face it 30 yrs ago both Nicodemo and Grande would have been immediately killed for such badly planned hit.
Re: Speculation on Merlino's involvement in DiPietro hit
But it's not 30 years ago, and had the mailman (how they missed him is astounding) not seen them speed off they would have gotten away with it. Nicodemo is at a max prison in the middle of nowhere and he's been there for four years now, he's not rolling. Comparing Leonetti and Grande is silly, even for you, the Gambinos brought Roccaforte to a major meeting in NJ with Philly guys, he had never done time, should they have clipped him too?
Lancellotti and Merlino go back 30 years and he's been a skipper for going on two decades now, he's always had status. Him and Grande being there might indicate they were involved with Merlino & Parello's scheme. Also, based off Stefanelli's recordings, Lancellotti is well known to NY and carries juice outside the Philly/SJ area.
