FYI: Larimer Ave was in the heart of East Liberty, Larimer was just a section of East Liberty, it's where the Grnovese brothers were raised and ran the rackets with an iron fist.

Looking forward to them. The early days Italian hotbeds were:

Turtle Creek, Homewood, Hill District, Hazelwood, Braddock, East Liberty

Suburbs: Indiana (Heilwood), Beaver, Aliquippa, New Castle, Hillsville, Sharon, Farrell, Butler

LOL. It was a serious hotbed for the early days of the Black Hand. If I'm not mistaken, there were quite a few mines in the area that employed the early Italians. John LaRocca was originally from that area.

LOL. It was a serious hotbed for the early days of the Black Hand. If I'm not mistaken, there were quite a few mines in the area that employed the early Italians. John LaRocca was originally from that area.

There were many many mines all over Indiana co there was an operating mine in heilwood up until a few years ago it operated under rosebud mining which was the last large operating company in the area. There still maybe a few small independent mines in that area.

Very interesting.

This area was once was thriving with jobs.. No longer. I paid 300 bucks to get my under ground mining certifications. Most expensive Toliet paper I ever bought lol. But that's what people did in this area worked... My dad was a union miner for 30 years. It gave us a decent life. We always stayed in the middle class comfort.

I hear ya...I had great uncles that worked at Bessemer Limestone Quarry in Hillsville, PA where most of my Mom's family settled after coming here from Reggio Calabria. I had other Uncles who owned trucks and hauled limestone and one of my Mom's uncles was arrested with the Rocco Racco group in Hillsville, PA in 1907 and he got the stiffest sentence imposed out of all the Black Handers.

If you have any specific addresses or specific towns you would like to see let me know. I was in Penn hills yesterday right down on rodi rd. If you want a real feel of things Johnstown is the place to take pics of. The abandoned steel mills still stand in alot of places a non working railroad in the middle of town and the houses haven't been updated since 1950. I hate the ride to Johnstown from Indiana when you get there it's just such a depressing place and you can't but help feel bad for the town and townspeople. When Bethlehem steel was the third largest producer of steel (Pittsburgh was number one Youngstown was 2 Gary Indiana was 3) Bethlehem steel employed around 20,000 people in the Johnstown area through its company and satellite and shoot off companies. Now it's doubtful that 18,000 even live in the entire city. Out of all the rust belt cities Johnstown was hit the worst and truly never ever recovered. But if you guys have anything in mind let me know. Sorry about the Johnstown rant lol
