The coates house was a mobbed run shop until the fire in 1978 that almost destroyed it and killed at least 16 people if I remember right. Worst fire in KC history. That night it was so cold that several people standing on ledges were getting hit by water spray by the firemen and ended up frozen to the building. It took several days for it to get warm enough to remove the bodies. The joint was controlled by Joe Bonino whose brother Anthony ran a mob owned strip club called AB's on troost this was a strip club located in a residential area. Shows how much juice they had even into the late 70's. AB's ran into the 90's. Anthony and Joe Bonino was an associate of Jimmy Duardi. I know gary Jenkins and have spoken to him several times. He will tell you his knowledge is limited as he was assigned to cover just one guy and that was Jimmy Duardi. Most of these historic places are no longer even standing. But there are far more significant places where at least the building is till there. Jenny restaurant in old little Italy, cannot be off any list it was the sight of many meetings to include the planning of the 1991 murder of a federal witness Larry Strada. In the basement of Jennes is a rail road track which runs down to the Missouri river. During prohibition they used to off load booze from boats and deliver them via these rails to the basement of Jennes where it was then distributed. Jennes if I remember was owned or control by Dude Fontenello who is related to the Civellos and Cascones. Other places that would be considered very important in KC mob history would be the Toy and jobber house, Antonios pizza, Red front bar, Anthonys, the Civella fruit stand in the river market, Schemeca's deli, city diner owned by John Glorioso, pat Obriens, Guillary house owned by Charlie Mandacina, the Quinn law office which was used at a office by Nick Civella, Cammisanos garage on Monroe, Bonnadonna bar on Truman road where Parker T was blown up, The trap {northside social club} Owned by Pete Ribaste, Avenue Social club at 105 5th street owned by Pete Simone, 12th street coin shop owned by Max Jaben, Lucians, 606 club, the pompii room, the private casinos at 136 Olive street, the one on Prospect and Independence Ave, Simones shoe shop owned by Nick SImone, Martys BBQ owned by Tamburello and lastly the mafia graveyard St Marys at 23rd and Cleveland, the majority of the mobster both Italian and Irish from the Civell and earlier era reside in this Cemetary. The gravestones are a freaking whos who of mob history, with murdered mobsters buried right next to the men or murdered or ordered their murders. The newer era mob guys generally get buried at mt olivet or resurrection north of the river, while there are mob guys buried all over st marys the corner of 23th and Cleveland must have been bought by the family because no one buried in this area was not involved in cosa nostra. From Lazia to Corrello, Lococo, Civella, Cammisano you name it they are here if your ever in kc and just want to check out one area check out st marys.

Important mob friends and business associates were put up here and provided with ample entertainment for the evening. This is located around 36th and Broadway. This part of Broadway was heavily mobbed owned. With some ownership still remaining.

I forgot about the Hyde Park Hotel, this is a mob owned hotel which back in the day was also the cities largest whore house. Important mob friends and business associates were put up here and provided with ample entertainment for the evening. This is located around 36th and Broadway. This part of Broadway was heavily mobbed owned. With some ownership still remaining.
