Could've possibly been because he made his money in the garment district and not in the street , no ? Gotti respected Tommy Gambino at the very least. He respected him because he was an earner, in a conversation with Leah Rimini's father, he supposedly told him he was going to beef up Gambino's crew but wouldn't give him any shooters or violent types, or "hotheads" as Gotti called him, despite Gambino once being considered as part of the Castellano sect. If Gotti did make that comment, I'd bet in was in relation to Tommy's control of trucking businesses and other things in the garments industry, which was previously known mainly for its association with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Alex ,gotti made him a captain..he was with brown. he really did not have a bad temper, a really good one in fact..everyone fights,street guys fight when pushed..a classy man..would make a good boss in todays times..understands both street and biz end real well.he had a great teacher..

In Gravano's book he says he met with Gambino at his dress business and while they were talking, Gambino was pinning a dress on a woman or something like that and asked Gravano how it looked, which Gravano felt was embarrassing.

Edit: Actually Tommy, I think they are the same person, and Big Georgie Remini is indeed her father. I mispelled her last name, its spelled "Remini" and they both married an Austrian for a wife. If Big Georgie had something to do with or owned an asbestos removal company, they're the same guy. And I remember seeing a good morning america show or something like that and she was on it and they were hyping her "mobster past".

Back to the tread. I'm wondering if Frankie D had any known or semi known hits to his name, other than the big Paul plot? There is actually something mentioned in that Philip Carlo book about Casso. I think it was 2 hits mentioned by Carlo, one in Gravesend and one in Manhattan that Frankie and Casso were in on together. Can't really remmeber what it was about.

Carlo says in the book how Casso was real good friends with Frankie and how they worked toghether, and how Frankie asked Casso for advice about hitting Paul. Me, personally, I think they were both full of shit.
