Sorry but these are mob nepo kids with sweetheart contracts that aren't competing with the companies that real hardworking people are running.NickyEyes1 wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 7:40 am Ridiculous and borderline discriminatory. Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Don't most in Chicago think the Casino was a bad idea? My opinion - if the DiFronzo family can relish in the gains of blood money, they can deal with its stench too. D&P is a multi million dollar business that became that way by beating down and bankrupting a ton of the 'little guys' who weren't willing to go up against the DiFronzos. Ask any Italian who owns any type of contracting company near a big city and isn't mobbed up how much scrutiny they get because of these companies.PolackTony wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 8:36 am Looks like every 20 years, D&P is going to prevent a Chicagoland casino from being built. Bally’s is under an obligation from the IGB to have this casino fully up and running by September of next year. Depending on how long this halt work order remains in effect now, that timeline could well wind up being infeasible now and the project DOA. I haven’t been in that area since the project began, so I don’t know how much progress has even been made on it to date.
Some of this stuff does start to get into ridiculous territory. Assuming that everything is on the up and up with contracting and that a company is actually rendering the contracted services, I personally don’t much care even if the company is connected (which I’ve never heard that the grandson even is). If they’re not breaking any laws, then it’s really no different than any other company.
But I’m not the IGB, whose whole rationale for existing is to root out even the merest whiff of mob influence in IL gaming. Looks like the issue here is that the IGB never was notified of or approved D&P as a vendor for the project, and only found out that someone there had subcontracted D&P after the Sun-Times dropped the dime on it. Unsurprisingly, the State is now shutting all work down until the State concludes an investigation of the vendors being used at the site and Bally’s can provide a revamped disclosure agreement for all contractors. Presumably, the IGB will not find any evidence of extant mob connections to D&P anyway, but again, if this process drags on, the casino could well wind up being DOA because of this.
I guarantee there are more mob-affiliated companies at Bally's than D&P - the Emerald Casino debacle was not that long ago and it was clear then all those guys were getting in line for pay days. That money they take is tax money - I don't get why anyone would defend them.
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Chicagoans have a strong feeling one way or the other.

Wasn't Lightfoot the one who started the Casino? From what I read, quite a hairbrained way to pay debt - and I've been to Chicago plenty of times. Cities like that don't need a casino - imagine a casino in Manhattan or LA proper - surprised Chicagoans would welcome that.

Well, soon you won’t have to merely imagine a casino in Manhattan (not that it really matters here, but I’m not really a casino proponent myself and don’t gamble, so I’m not trying to do any back and forth with anyone on the merits or lack thereof of casinos in Chicago or NYC):NorthBuffalo wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 11:43 am I've been to Chicago plenty of times. Again, I don’t think the majority of residents have strong feelings one way or the other.

I can say that nobody back home, family or friends, who I talk to has ever brought the subject up, so I’d have to agree. The debate around this has largely been confined to a small circle of activist types and political operatives, as is often the case. Most Chicagoans have a long list of other concerns, to say the least, that take precedence over the casino question.

Really? So are dumpster used to throw away construction debris can stop a casino from being built?PolackTony wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 8:36 am Looks like every 20 years, D&P is going to prevent a Chicagoland casino from being built. They should take the logos off their dumpster(s).

Very old conversation (I was reviewing it for something else as I'm down with an injury and pretty bored) but anyway I missed this guy being named before, and went looking around and found him too.Coloboy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 5:21 pmA bit embarrassed to say I was able to find the Lynch guy on FB. The pawn shop The Gold Exchange is next door. He said that he doesn't think Jerry Scalise is made, so my previous info is probably wrong. A lot of Outfit guys and their families work at Maranos, including Louie Marino before he died. The Cicero guys now meet in a restaurant in the suburbs every Sunday. A guy named TJ Lynch does heavy work for Cicero.

He's from Berwyn (12th Street Players town), but what really stood out for me is that he has posted several pictures of himself hanging around the It's About Time lounge, which I believe is owned by Louis Rainone, so I'm assuming this is the guy in question. I am told by a good source that he "does collections" for Cicero FWIW.
