Interestingly enough, the fellow who was arrested and convicted with Failla, Vincenzo Scampolino, was shot to death in an apparent gangland shooting in 1925. Scampolino was married to a Failla, probably related to Salvatore, but not a sister.

Cause of death was given as endocarditis, an infection of the heart tissue. This is typically caused by bacteria entering the bloodstream due to things like surgery, injections, or another site of infection. It can also certainly come about as a consequence to a gunshot or stab wound. Therefore, this cause of death would not be *inconsistent with* Salvatore Failla having seven attacked, through (though not confirmatory, obviously, as the endocarditis could just as well come from a tooth infection or something).

Yeah, I would not be surprised. Scars was pretty clear and again, he’s been rock solid on his info. Even if he’s remotely hesitant on something he won’t pass it along, he was pretty clear on this. Fairly certain he also said the elder Failla was a wise guy or at least alluded to it. He often talks about the lineage with the Sicilian guys
And I’m pretty sure this was mentioned in the discussion.

Interesting one of his associates was killed during the same general period. Hard to say if Failla died from complications from a wound or what based on the available info. Appreciate you digging in as always -- you're the master.

If I have the right Scamporlino he was from Sortino in Siracusa which is in the same general region as Licodia, pretty much a straight line to the east closer to the coast.
