Sarno made more than 2 dozen guys just in the Cicero crew.
Does anyone seriously believe this?
It might be an exaggeration since two dozen seems like a lot, but I don't think we should dismiss it out of hand. We probably shouldn't take "two dozen" literally. We're in the dark about this so I think it's safer to say maybe Sarno made between a dozen or two guys, but we don't know since no one in a position to know has come forward to confirm or deny it publicly. To me it makes sense that he would have made an unknown number of guys when he was on the street.
And Sarno was the Outfit boss after Marcello. I don't know if he was acting or official, but he had the authority to make guys.
I'll add that Scott does have real insider contacts and a lot of times he just reports what he's told, and when people talk they use figures of speech. They don't give out exact information like a lawyer's legal brief or an indictment.

I would also, again, really emphasize that Joe and Jane Q Public couldn’t give less of a shit about either subject (even in NYC, most people are barely aware at best that the mob even exists. And that’s at best). To a first order approximation, *nobody* cares about the American mafia today (by which I mean the contemporary LCN, not residual Boomer JFK-Hoffa-Giancana nostalgia).
The one thing I keep running into with normies is that they think the American LCN is gone gone, like it went extinct with Gotti's conviction or something.
And Big L was one of the realest, but unfortunately lived what he rapped about and became a poster boy for “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong”. His section of Harlem was still a very rough world then.
I have "Danger Zone" on my workout playlist, "I'll even fuck a dead bitch" and the bit where brags about how he doesn't care if he gets AIDS never fail to put a smile on my face.
Very strange how so many of those rappers aren't kidding in their "gansta" lyrics. Kind of freaked me out in the 90s when a lot of the famous killings happened, with innocent teenage me being like "wait they were SERIOUS about all that stuff?".

Remember your source also claimed that Sarno and Marcello did make new guys, whom he called as "a bunch of degenerates" (a characterization that leads me to speculate that Carparelli was one of those made ).

Could Sarno even make guys? I don't know much about Chi but wasn't he just head of Cicero, ie just a Capo. He wasn't even admin was he?

Also worth noting that Furio’s post was a verbatim cut and paste of a post from the mafia subreddit by Reddit poster “CT-CT”. We all know that it’s Furio and he means no harm, but I still don’t like to see what some other guy wrote go unattributed like this.
Kids and young people have no emotional connection to the mob. Lets be honest. The mob is an acquired taste that only really applies to those who know somebody whos in the life such as a father or friend. Some kid who lives in TN or even the suburbs is not really gonna really give a fuck about the mob in 2025. There is no emotional connection especially when the media doesn't glamorize it anymore like they did in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

SB first reported Sarno making a bunch of new guys all the way back in 2010. Fifteen years later and not a single one has been identified. What does that tell you?

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

He's been saying this forever but I'm pretty skeptical of it. Unless Sarno was just making relative nobodies willy-nilly, which I supposed it possible, but seems unlikely.
I could see one dozen guys made in total between Marcello and the present day, maybe.

Check these threads out, Sonny. They may answer some of your questions:

I know I'm considered a Burnstein 'hater', but this is a very good point.
12-26 guys made in the early 2000's and zero, zero, have been identified 20 years later?

I don't, and I follow the Outfit as closely as anyone can. Simply based alone on how selective we know they are about membership, it seems totally at odds with their history.
I do think it is highly likely that between Marcello and Sarno, there was a group of guys inducted in that period. Many of the members of the Cicero crew that Scott writes about are likely candidates. But we have no solid information. We also have zero clue what the top administration looks like today, it's all conjecture and guessing names at the top. I would bet money that the top admin is not exactly what most people speculate (Delaurentis, Cautadella, Vena are the most common names thrown around).

That's hugely problematic in the best light.
To be fair, zero total have been identified in that time period. The last documented ceremony was 1988. Does that mean nobody was made since then? No. Does that mean two dozen guys were made at one time? Also no.

Pardon me if this has been beaten to death already (I can't find it in search) but how do we know that guys like Cataudella, Sarno and Vena are formally made? Or do we even really know that? Sarno would have been presumably made at some point if he was the boss, I guess, but I am not sure where/how we "know" the other two ever were.
