When Operation Dead Hand was announced in Los Angeles on Jan. 30, 2024, Sidhu and some of the other Canadians swept up in the drama were overshadowed by big allegations and better-known names.
In the United States, there were wanted fugitives linked to Mexican drug cartels and distracting mountains of cocaine surrounding the podium at the press conference; in Canada, there was a man with a notorious last name: Roberto Scoppa, brother of two leaders in a faction of the Montreal Mafia who were killed in 2019 during a mob war.
Quebec man accused in huge cocaine, fentanyl and meth smuggling case appears in U.S. court. The case involves a lot of fentanyl, but all of it was in the U.S. and believed to be from Mexico; the endgame was to smuggle drugs into Canada https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/qu ... -u-s-court
Gravel Gonzalez seemed a small fry.
Attention focused on alleged bosses of the two related smuggling networks that the FBI snitch infiltrated, including Roberto Scoppa, 55, of Montreal, the brother of two leaders in the Montreal Mafia who were killed during a mob war; Guramrit Sidhu, 61, of Brampton, west of Toronto, known as “King,” who allegedly orchestrated the Ontario branch; and three wanted narcos linked to Mexican cartels who remain fugitives.
All of the Canada-based accused faced extradition from Canada to the United States, which can be a lengthy process if it is resolutely opposed.
Gravel Gonzalez, it turns out, didn’t put up much of a fight.

Des armes à feu du pays de Trump importées en contrebande dans une bibliothèque des Cantons-de-l’Est et saisies chez des leaders notoires de la mafia montréalaise https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2025/ ... ntrealaise
Photo accompanying the second article I listed above. Taken Nov. 19, 2015, it shows a copy of Adrian Humphreys and Lee Lamothe’s book, The Sixth Family, atop a table in Leonardo Rizzuto’s residence.
Does John Pennisi have someone translate French-language items into English for him? In the YouTube video to which I've linked below, he draws on the Mar. 14 article that OcSleeper linked to above.
If you want to know what was covered in the French-language J.E TV episode that first aired last Friday, you just need to view Pennisi's video and read the Italian article (or a translation of it).

Man, from my view, this is the second time I have seen the police of Canada and they have female LE in a position where they look good...they know these mafia articles get alot of views. So they want montreals finest I presume.
I'm still wondering how myself. Sarroino matched the description of the shooter, his DNA was found on the murder weapon, his finger prints on the bag used to conceal the murder weapon, and he owned a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle used in the getaway.

Oh so there wasn't really any more details? That Italian article is essentially the same as the original JDM article.
Not any details that would be of interest to us posters.
While in Italy, Félix Séguin did meet with officials in government and law enforcement. Séguin and his crew did travel to Castelvetrano so he could interview Giuseppe Cimarosa, an antimafia activist who was born into a mafia family. If what I've read is correct, Cimarosa's mother is a cousin of Matteo Messina Denaro; and Cimarosa's father, Lorenzo (who died in 2017), turned on Messina Denaro years earlier by talking to the authorities.
But none of the aforementioned interviews sheds any light on Leonardo Rizzuto's travel to Sicily after the attempt on his life in March 2023.

That's disappointing. Was hoping we'd get some details on who exactly he met and maybe even other details of his visit in 2019. Been watching for Italian articles in case theyve mentioned anything worthwhile and all of the ones I've see so far are basically a summary of the JDM article.
