Who did Nick C say sponsored Matassa at the ‘83 ceremony?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Bellavia was made in 89 at the Como
Nick said Solano sponsored Matassa. I don't remember there being too much controversy about it as we don't know who informed on the '89 ceremony, but I'd tend to believe Nick over them. The CI only knew Matassa through D'Amico and was also the source for D'Amico's alleged resentment over Matassa being made before him. I suppose the CI could also be wrong about DeLaurentis, but we haven't had anything to contradict that like we had with the Matassa info.
I see. Thanks, this makes sense. What other captains (sponsors) does Calabrese mention are present?

Are we positive that Abbinanti’s name is not mentioned in any of the late 80s ceremonies?

I remember now that black Angelo on Anerican news post is the one who alluded to Vic Spilotro being made & being sponsored by Mooch Eboli. Probably untrue
I heard Vic was made after his brothers’ murder to appease him and keep him from trying to seek revenge. Vic ended up dying in 1997.
That makes a lot of sense.

Vic Spilotro was always considered to be by far the toughest & scariest of those brothers. It’s a easy to see Mooch making it one of his first orders of business as newly appointed capo to settle the dust with the family after what went down

I read Vic’s obituary. It says he was a ‘salesman’ or something

I think Vic was very much a brokester compared to both of his brothers - and I think he lost all clout after those murders. If you read the Infelise indictments they basically took away Vic Spilotro's bookmakers. I think he was lucky to escape with his life and likely knew that.

I don't think Vic was ever made, either. Like NB said, he basically got punked out by the Ferriola crew.

Those gentile brothers are super cringe. Typical local yokel weird chicagoans and outfit-worshippers. Pretty sure their dad got shaken down by the outfit. It’s somewhat surprising to me when you hear Chicago people talk about the local mafia versus the east coast. Civilians on the east coast know who’s who, can breakdown specific crews and their structures, know which guy is shaking down which business, who has each territory, etc. but when you hear guys like these gentile brothers talk, even though they were in the neighborhood for their entire lives, it seems like they’re still in the dark on Outfit specifics. “Oh Tony Accardo, oh jack cerone”, but nothing more. Anyways, just find that interesting, and I can’t figure out why it is that way

Have you perused their “mob adjacent” channel. As is the case with most channels that have ever attempted to focus on Chicago LCN specifically, it’s very poorly set up. All of the videos are for children only, so you can’t leave comments & you can’t play the video picture-in-picture

I guess. I think if you talk to people who actually grew up around Outfit guys they would know in a similar way, you're always going to have goofballs like this who are just looking to make a buck.
