On Reddit, a guy who worked as an associate lawyer on both Tommy Gambino and John Gotti’s cases made an interesting claim.
He claimed he was told that Paul was murdered with the nod from Sicily because he was an obstacle to Sicily’s heroin access to the ports, and because the tapes were viewed as embarrassing even over there, especially all the personal life stuff. Also because the tapes led directly to things like The Commission trial and numerous other trials due to so many guys being referred to or named on tape.
This guy provided backup as proof he worked both cases in the way of pictures with various guys (Jackie Nose, others), tape transcripts, and so on.
Do you think there is any credence to it?
What is the possibility Sicily was complicit in the Castellano murder?

Sicilians import drugs from the 1950s and I doubt that Castellano would have the balls to close the ports to the siggies.
Simply he let zips to traffick heroin and banned the american wiseguys to sell it,with of course many exceptions.

Gotti didn't give a flying fuck what the Sicilians thought. I doubt someone from his camp reaches out to Sicily because they'd have to worry the Sicilians would tip off Paul as he had all sorts of business with them.
It doesn't seem likely imo but anything is possible.

Paul wasn't against narcotics he was just against American crews do it
The cherry hill Gambino's were tight with castellano I think and bilottis brother was real close with some Sicilian hitters that according to gravano they were worried were going to try and retaliate
If the Sicilians were involved Im pretty sure gravano would have been brought this up.
Castellano was not looked at by the AMERICANS in the best light tho after not going to dellacroce funeral.
And then they were also worried he could possibly flip with the TWO major RICO cases coming up - commission and the demo car theft ring

Which is weird because Riina killed many of Paul's cousins, the Inzerillo's etc. causing them to flee to the U.S. and join Castellano's borgata. I speculate Riina wanted to kill gotti not just to show his transatlantic strength and not just because gotti killed Castellano but also because he might've wanted to realign himself with the Sicilian faction to have more friends in the U.S. as his close friend Naimo joined the lucchese's upon Riina's request.scagghiuni wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 4:45 amyes, Riina told Naimo that Castellano was a friend of him
I'm not saying he wanted to become friendly with Inzerillo's and other families that might've been banished or left during Riina's era but in theory he might've wanted to look good to the Gambino familly as a knight in shining armor so that with more Gambino friends who weren't akin to Gotti he wouldn't have to worry about orders he gives to the Gambino's not getting fulfilled. So If he did want to kill more Inzerillo's, Gotti's or whoever in the U.S. then he wouldn't have to worry about it getting done.
