He may have ended up there but there's a report from the early 1960s that he was acting captain for his paesan / relative Sam Badalamenti.

B, you wrote that Tommaso Petto was from Carini. I know that some newspaper articles said his real name was Luciano Parrino and that he came from Carini, but as we know a lot of those early newspaper articles had a lot of errors. Have you found documentation that he was from Carini? It's been many years since I looked, but I didn't find any. It's possible his last name was something similar to Parrino, such as Peraino (which could possibly link him to Giuseppe Peraino), but I didn't look at all variations.

I don't know that I've seen official documentation, only going off what was published which as you said does often deserve scrutiny. I'll see if I can find anything.

Was the true spelling of his surname Perrino or Parrino? If it's the latter it's interesting he ended up in Pittston as there were Parrinos in the Pittston Family later on, these ones coming from Palazzo Adriano which is a town I've looked into heavily and had a small but tightknit network that surfaced in different Families across the US.

Be good to confirm "Petto's" actual origins.

IIRC, I've only seen the Parrino spelling, but that doesn't mean it's correct.

I've more commonly seen people who have written about him use "Perrino" but that's a spelling I've never come across when researching the mafia whereas I've found many Sicilians who use Parrino. Definitely someone I'd like to dig into more as I've only taken the info secondhand.

On the subject of Carini, Petto's associate Vito LaDuca does look to be Carinese along with some of LaDuca's associates. With LaDuca being from the area around Palermo citta and having a presence in Brooklyn, it seems more likely he was a Lupo member (opposed to Morello) and wonder if he may have been a spiritual predecessor to the Carinesi who ended up with the Profaci/Colombos in Brooklyn.

A correction to the original post (which was from 2020) is that Giuseppe Fanaro doesn't appear to be Carinese. That info originally came from Dave Critchley but Rick/Antiliar looked into Fanaro much more deeply and he was from a district within Palermo city itself. I don't know if there is a Carini connection of some kind that Dave found or what his basis was for listing him as Carinese -- it's of course not far from where Fanaro was actually from -- but there is in-depth info about Fanaro's background in the May 2014 Informer issue.
