I've seen that one ( the link you sent) it's all over the place none of my friends were into crack cocaine nor selling from coffie shops secondly like I've stated earlier that in the picture is Joe galante jr ( not carmine )
For the record....
They did t sell crack outta coffee shops?
Or didn't sell crack period??
Always wondered about the crack epidemic and how much the mob was in it and I don't think very much
Obviously they sold the coke that was made into crack - but still two totally different clientele and lifestyles
Jeremy the Jew no one sold crack out of any coffee shop or club that I knew maybe in South Brooklyn????? But definitely not in my neighborhood not with the Italians anyway
Cobra yes pino or zio pinozu as I would call him was an up in coming gangster at one time he owned a pizza shop on Knickerbocker Ave and his son Joe owned a fish store right next door to my brothers cafe we were like two doors down on 274 Knickerbocker ave the same block now what happened to pino was he left his wife in Sicily with 5 kids and fled to new york with a younger woman who he ended up having two daughters with ( about the early sixty's) after this move he was looked down upon not only by the castellamaresi people but his mob friends so much so his man of honor expectations were shot down! Nevertheless he still gave that aura he was that guy outside his shop he'd sit at a table and hold court with the simps of the neighborhood behind his back people called him pinozu stronzu ( Joe the the turd) and all because of the way he left his family all fkd up back home ( which he deserved) I know that Luigi ronsevelli speaks of zio pinozu but that's another guy you gotta wonder about , don't get me wrong people would go to the back of his pizza shop and have major discussions from Lilo to Petro licata, and any of the buccelatto s he wasn't totally black balled the old man bonamo one time took a knife out on pino and missed his face by inches old man had to be held back
Kyle I'll go with the most honest I'm not gonna comment on the bullshiters although I'd love too especially content creators but yeah I find Mikey scars to be very honest also Howie Santos always tells an honest story the only beef I got with franchise is he doesn't think he cooperated but yeah there's not many
Ridgewood…was Joe & Mary’s (restraunt)? Did that place stay open much longer after Galante got whacked there? Do you know if Catalano, other guys like your uncle, or other Sicilians that ended up becoming captains, Bonventre etc, were they first with Pete Licata when they started out or came over? Pete Licata seems like an interesting story. Did Catalano and those guys take over his operations after he was killed?

Augie : Joe and Mary's was closed right after the galante hit Joe's wife ( turano s) I'm pretty sure went back to Sicily some time after her son came out the hospital. John turano was shot that day trying to warn his dad . As for the catalano question he catalano was around licata and my uncle was around Joe buccelatto and for bonventre and crew they were friends with catalano this is about the time where Santo Giordano is suspected of killing Mike the boxer and eventually enters this circle
I guess if any thing will get a place closed quick it’s that. It seemed more like a ‘small hole in the wall’ kind of place. I do remember reading the son got shot. This day and age if the restaraunt managed to stay open it would probably help lol to be honest. If it was in Little Italy manhateen lol, if your a tourist you can come out to the patio and get your picture taken in the death spot chockline and all lol. BYO cigar lol. Honestly though sometimes the ‘hole in the wall places’ have the better food without all the fanfare. Some of the best restaurants (Italian or otherwise) that are small place like that got the better food.
Thx yea I thought Licata was kind of the front runner so to speak for Catalano faction later on. Thx
