I always believe chin somehow masterminded it. grasso was a pain in the ass of everyone in CT and even started to encroach into mass. he made the guy who killed him. I forgot his name but he was a Springfield guy inducted into the patriarca family. he out today I think his last names Milano. the genovese guys helped in the plot to kill grasso but I dont think chin okayed it. they told grasso he was going to worcester to meet carlo then they killed him in a van in Hartford or somewhere. the key thing he was killed by a patriarca soldier with the ok of jr russo and boston behind him
He was shelved in 2005 by Nigro after failing to attend a meeting in New York. They wanted him to to be the new Springfield captain (or at least its local leader) after Arillotta was incarcerated but he refused because his brother Louis was appealing a life sentence and he didn't want to jeopardise that. Arillotta has also said Pugliano was afraid to go to New York City, likely related to all the violence going in within the crew.

thanks for your information about Pugliano Is he and Gaetano Milano still alive?
Also what do you make of this article about James Santaniello? https://www.masslive.com/news/2015/12/p ... iello.html

He talks about his affairs and other personal family issues openly, I didn't really include the details in either set of notes because they're not really LCN-related.

It's pretty much the same as his interviews, he doesn't really shy away from anything.

I'm reading this book also and I noticed early on Arillotta names one Antonio Miranda as the conduit through which the Genovese family started it's connection to the Springfield area. He was married to one Pasqualina Albano who had been running an extensive bootlegging operation she inherited from her first husband Carlo Siniscalchi. Siniscalchi is murdered by Giuseppe Parisi in 1921, Miranda dies of blood poisoning in 1930 and Pasqualina herself gets murdered alongside Michael Fiore in 1932.

I figured this might interest some of the guys more interested in the historical side of things.

Now it makes even more sense, is that in the book or something that’s just known? I’m only a third of the way through.

I haven’t read Arilotta’s book, but it’s been discussed a bit on the board previously. There was also another brother, Donato Miranda, who had ties to Boston and seems to have been involved with the mob but I don’t believe that his membership has ever been confirmed.

The Springfield crew almost certainly had its beginnings in a Camorra Society there (the Italian community in Springfield is largely derived from Avellino and Salerno provinces in Campania, along with Calabrians). An apparent leader was Carlo Siniscalchi, a Campanian bootlegger who had arrived about a decade earlier from Brooklyn, where he had owned a saloon. Siniscalchi was killed in 1921. His widow, Pasqualina Albano, reputed to have been a gangster in her own right (the old Camorra had female affiliates also, it should be noted), then remarried Antonio Miranda, who died in Springfield of natural causes in 1930 (I recall a story where after his death, guys from NYC rained flowers down from a plane over Springfield, though I don’t recall the specifics at the moment). Pasqualina was subsequently killed in a shooting in 1932. My assumption is that sometime in the 1920s, the organization in Springfield was absorbed into Cosa Nostra, same as happened in other cities around that time. Antonio Miranda may have had a similar situation as Capone, who we know was a Camorra leader inducted into the Masseria Family and then given leadership over a crew of his own men in a remote city.

Arillotta confirmed Sarno wasn't a member and that was a mistake by the author. Also confirmed O'Nofrio being inducted in the early 2000s was a mistake and he never knew Volpe as a member.

Arillotta said he didn't even read his own book😂
