Re: Detroit CHALDEAN mob
For anyone interested in this part, Chaldean Assyrians are not Arabs and are not *Roman Catholic*. They are ethnic Assyrians (they speak a modern form of Aramaic, which is related to the old Aramaic dialect used as the common tongue in Judea during Jesus’s time) who belong to the Chaldean Catholic Church, an Eastern Rite church that’s in Communion with the Roman Catholic Church but independent of it. Many other Assyrians belong to different Assyrian Christian churches.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:38 am I don't expect anyone outside of Detroit to even know what a Chaldean is bc they really r only here (Catholic arabics)
And there are a *ton* of Assyrians in Chicagoland also, where a number of them have been heavily involved in street gangs and OC activities as well (e.g., a subgroup of the Latin Kings, the Assyrian Kings, active since the 80s on the Far Northside of Chicago). I would presume that there are some ties between Assyrian gangster types in both cities, though I don’t know of any specifics.

Extremely clean like. Don't like outsiders. Possibly one of the last few cultures that is close to relevantly pure bloodline still.

Re: Detroit CHALDEAN mob
I always got confused between the difference between them. From my understanding is Chaldeans are Catholic while Assyrians are orthodox or something similar to orthodox. St. Ephrem Chaldean Church is located in Chicago on the north side of the city while there are several Assyrian churches throughout the city and suburbs.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:55 pmReally there in Chicago now huh? That being said, I knew several Assyrian guys that tried to pass as Italians. Similar to the Gypsies from Polk and Carpenter that always tried to act like they were Italians from Taylor street. But they have a look that you can just tell they are not real Italians. Let’s not forget Greg Paloian was an Outfit associate who was Assyrian but unlike the gypsies you would never have guessed he was not Italian by looking at him or talking to him.

Re: Detroit CHALDEAN mob
Assyrian is the overarching ethnic group, a Christian people who speak modern dialects of Aramaic. Chaldeans are a *subgroup* of Assyrians, denoting those Assyrians who are adherents of the Chaldean Catholic Church.
Historically, Assyrians (who, like the Armenians, were among the first peoples to adopt Christianity) belonged to branches of what was called the Syriac Church, also called the Church of the East or the Parthian Church. This was an Eastern church, but not Eastern Orthodox, as the Syriac Church used the Syriac liturgical rite rather than the Byzantine rite (there are other such Eastern churches that adhere to their own liturgical rites in Egypt, Armenia, Ethiopia, and India). A few centuries ago, a group broke off from the Syriac Church of the East and in the 19th century this group was recognized by Rome as being in “Communion” with the Roman Catholic Church. This was the Chaldean Catholic Church, which, like other Eastern Churches that regained Communion with Rome, is headed by its own Patriarch and uses its own liturgical rite (in other words, it’s a quasi-independent Eastern church that has been recognized by Rome). There are also former Eastern Orthodox churches, like the Ukrainian Greek Catholic and Albanian Greek Catholic Churches that have entered into Communion with Rome in the same way.
The other Assyrian churches did not enter into Communion with Rome and have splintered over the years into a couple of factions. Adherents of these churches, such as the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East (which despite the name, is not in Communion with Rome), are usually just called “Assyrian” in the West.
The homeland of the Assyrian people is northern Iraq and adjoining or nearby areas of Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Armenia/Azerbaijan. The majority now live in diaspora, as they have often been subjected to persecution as a Christian minority surrounded by Muslim neighbors, with the largest US communities being Chicago and Detroit (many also live in CA and AZ). While most of the Assyrians in the Detroit area are Chaldeans, those in Chicagoland include Chaldeans along with many other Assyrians (the majority in both cities are from Iraq. While there are longstanding Assyrian communities in both cities, new waves of refugees arrived after fleeing war in Iraq in the 80s and again after 2003, while more recent arrivals fled from the Syrian Civil War.

Re: Detroit CHALDEAN mob
There are quite a few Chaldeans in Michigan. They are Iraqi Christians who came to the United States. Dearborn although is heavily populated with Arabs is not where you will find them. I lived in East Dearborn for awhile and let me tell you Lebanese hate Chaldeans. You can find them in West Bloomfield & Sterling Heights; Riding down Ryan rd. Chaldean Town which is pretty much no more was located at 7 mile and Woodward.
As for Chaldean OC you have,
Chaldean Godfather Louis Akrawi and his wannabe son Viktor.
Ray Jihad who owns Target Sports Gun Range and was on Hardcore pawn. He threw Les Gold and his crew out of his store. If you can find the episode it’s pretty funny
You have the Kalasho family. Not sure how many of them are involved in that life.
