I don't know. I also don't know where Barberio physically was back on July 28 and where he is at this very moment.
When I see Barberio's name on a docket again, I will try to listen in and watch as his matter is heard virtually. Post-pandemic, very few counsellors (lawyers), paralegals, and agents -- along with the defendants they are representing -- are attending certain Ontario Court of Justice courtrooms in person. In a Zoom Room, counsellors receive first priority, followed by paralegals and agents, even if, for example, a paralegal is filling in for a counsellor. Sometimes defendants appear on video or via audio from the detention centre where they are being held, e.g., Toronto South.
Davide Barberio has a matter being heard today at 2:15 pm EDT in the Blitz Trial Scheduling Court (BTSC).
I'm not sure whether the information found at the blog post below is outdated, but there is a possibility that Barberio is out of custody. I'm hoping one of the crime reporters I contacted prior today will be able to cover the proceedings.
