Damn it, yup it was Davis.PolackTony wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 10:27 amThat was Mickey Davis you’re thinking of. He was an associate of Pete DiFronzo and was sent to collect on a debt from RJ Serpico in MP. Davis then reached out to Gigi Rovito to have someone throw a “fucking thorough beating” on Serpico. Gigi got Paulie Cap, who of course got Georgie Brown, who was cooperating with the Feds.
Davis was probably another former street gang guy, like many of them now. He grew up in Logan Square as a tough guy so I suspect he was with the Palmer Square or Lawndale Gaylords, though I don’t know that for a fact.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Antiliar's source corroborated it, for what it's worth. Said that Marcello and then Sarno made "a bunch of degenerates", which sounds like he made people like Carparelli (first person who came to mind when I heard that he called the new guys "degenerates" )
What was the relationship between Marcello and Sarno like, do we know anything about how those two worked together as high ranking Outfit guys?

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
There are other names but completely unverified.
Sarno was apparently very aggressive while Marcello was locked up. I don't know much about their relationship while both were on the street, but Sarno (allegedly) had Zizzo taken out after Marcello went away the second time and took over the Outfit. This was when the new members were supposedly made.

Snakes is familiar with this, but on the Marcello prison tapes from 2000 (or 2001?) , Marcello asks about Sarno…”what does he bring in each month”….and “ he’s a good boy”.Snakes wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 3:19 pm There are other names but completely unverified.

It doesn’t take a detective to figure out that whatever their official positions were at that time, Marcello was above Sarno in the pecking order. The most likely scenario is that by this time Marcello had already been named acting boss or boss, despite being in prison, and he was getting tribute from Sarno (captain of the Cicero crew) for that reason. An alternate take is that Marcello was only the boss of some combined version of the Cicero/melrose park faction and Sarno was kicking up to him as a captain. I think the first scenario is the more likely one
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
There are trial documents suggesting MP had been merged with Cicero and Zizzo was boss of the crew with Sarno under him. Marcello was boss of the Outfit at this time. Once Marcello went away, Sarno was free to make a move, though.Coloboy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 6:01 pmSnakes is familiar with this, but on the Marcello prison tapes from 2000 (or 2001?) , Marcello asks about Sarno…”what does he bring in each month”….and “ he’s a good boy”.Snakes wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 3:19 pm There are other names but completely unverified.

I seem to remember a document that said Marcello wanted Sarno in charge when he went away.

Thanks Rick, that's exactly the kind of detail I'm looking for. If you can find the specific doc that would be even better.

Wasn't Marcello on tapes with Mickey Marcello discussing 'Mutt and Jeff' who were Sarno and Catuadella? He was asking how much those two were bringing in while he was locked up - he was certainly above them and having his brother monitoring from the outside. Here is the article:

Yes, he was above them. Also, once Tony Zizzo got out of prison, I believe Marcello had Cicero and Melrose Park merged (if they weren't already) and placed Zizzo at the head of the combined crew.NorthBuffalo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 11:26 am Wasn't Marcello on tapes with Mickey Marcello discussing 'Mutt and Jeff' who were Sarno and Catuadella? Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I don't remember there being one where Marcello said he wanted Sarno to take over. I tend to believe Marcello still tried to run things through Zizzo until he went missing and Sarno took over. This may have been one of the reasons he was moved to Admax, too, but that's just speculation.

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
So Zizzo getting taken out was a pure power play by Sarno then?
Also what are some other reasons Marcello got sent to Supermax? Didn't he try to have a fed whacked or something?

Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Just guesses based on the available information. I don't think Marcello threatened a federal official -- at least from what I recall. Frank Calabrese allegedly muttered "fucking kill you" to a federal prosecutor after the sentences were read.
