Its in the PMs in GangsterBB - there are a bunch of people who kind of talk off the boards. Can you tell me if the Abe Silverstein connection to Dominic's sister is real? I went down a rabbithole last night learning the Globetrotters were originally out of Chicago - before they moved to NYC. The entire thing was run by Jews - in fact, Jews were behind a lot of those early black sports. I have a suspicion that a significant amount of 'entertainment' type businesses launched in Chicago in the 30s and 40s would probably have Outfit backing or money invested in some way or another - or that you would have to pay the right people to get into stadiums, etc. Kind of an interesting connection.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 4:42 pmI have seen him at Richard’s since that killing. Apparently, his sister who is listed as a co-owner of this disputed property is married to the grandson of Abe Silverstein who was the founder of Harlem Globetrotters and they own quite a bit of real estate throughout the city as they are quite wealthy.
Richards Bar is apparently an homage to Richard Dominic (late brother of Bobby) who was an associate of Mike Posner. The bar was originally called Tishner's Tavern and owned by Vern Tishner, a well-known female bookmaker. Its owned by Susan Dominic and the wife of Mike Posner (Florence) on paper.
Bobby Dominic was running a pawnshop at Kimball and Fullerton in the Logan Square neighborhood up until a few years ago - that building owner is also Florence Posner. Posner's son also worked there, but Bobby Dominic seemed to be in charge.
Bobby Dominic stopped going to Richards after a kid was murdered outside (unrelated to Outfit).
The Dominics are a wealthy family with a lot of business interests. Richards hasn't been a 'mob place' since the 1990s.
Also, I have heard Terry Scalise, no relation to Jerry, is a big player now in th Chinatown crew. Was one of Michael Talerico’s guys and is now running a big operation. Terry is from Bridgeport.

There really isn't much conversation in there, when I checked it was just ChiTown calling us "Blackhand dorks" because we focus too much on who is/was boss -- which a lot of people are interested despite what he says.NorthBuffalo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 8:02 amIts in the PMs in GangsterBB - there are a bunch of people who kind of talk off the boards. Of course, assuming there isn't another thread that I'm not a part of. Lots of what he says are insane trump rants or gambling crap - sometimes its interesting. He's got good stories on a labor unions in the midwest in the 80s and 90s. He actually says Snakes knows more than he does if it makes you feel better - like 'someone should ask snakes on the other board'

Yes he did go away on that. From my understanding he took over the bookmaking action down there since Michael retired. You saw him in the italian club in Bridgeport?SonnyC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 7:27 amTerry went away with the Calabrese crew in the '90s. He rubs some people here wrong, but I've always thought he had some really good info. There was some good PM talk over there for awhile, but I cannot even remember my pw there anymore.NorthBuffalo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:05 am Lots of what he says are insane trump rants or gambling crap - sometimes its interesting. Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
Another one from those guys that I thought was interesting and upon Google, appears accurate:
Danny Bambulas was a member of the riggers union at McCormick Place. He began as a thief with Ken Bratko and John Varelli and was indicted with Willie Potatoes Daddano, whose relatives run a lot of the business at McCormick.
https://www.salernofuneralhomes.com/vis ... ulas/3470/
Local 134 really appears to have been as dirty as they come. ChiTown says the relatives of Joe Aiello still work there and they were major backers of Lightfoot and probably the casino she spearheaded. I did some reading and there was quite a lot of violence going on in the late 80s with 134 including bombings when the new head (Dunn) tried to kick Outfit people out.
https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct- ... story.html
Oddly enough, Dunn was subpoened by the FBI during the search for none other then Whitey Bulger - wonder what the hell that connection was all about. I can't find any follow up on Bulger and Dunn but quite interesting and a rabbit hole.

Well, looks like a James Aiello is still on Local 134's executive board.
Re: General Chicago Outfit Info Dumping Ground
I hadn't heard his name in awhile, but I generally only get to the club a few times a year now. He worked out in the gym at ONIAC. Doesn't surprise me that he's come up.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:12 amYes he did go away on that. Interesting I recently heard John Pudgy Matassa is far from being inactive and secretly controls a popular restaurant (which I will not name but is in grand and Ogden area) and is behind one of the biggest bookmaking operations in Chicago. Unsure of where he falls in on the Outfit chart but he is definitely towards the top.

People have been claiming for a couple of years that Pudgy is basically out of the life. I don’t know myself, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out he was a still a big deal, whatever his actual position is in the organization. His in-law is obviously a very big deal in NYC.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 12:23 pm Interesting I recently heard John Pudgy Matassa is far from being inactive and secretly controls a popular restaurant (which I will not name but is in grand and Ogden area) and is behind one of the biggest bookmaking operations in Chicago.
