Yeah, I know - but he was the reputed boss at that time. Was just saying that to say, as the boss he never was charged with conspiracy to murder D'Arco over the hotel incident, as an example on how/why DeSantis wouldn't get charged with a murder conspiracy to hit Pennisi when they were allegedly stalking him. Someone earlier asked why DeSantis hasn't been caught up in anything if Pennisi's story about the family trying to kill him were true.

The people in the hotel room if I remember correctly were Lastorino, Sal Avellino, Mike DeSantis, and I think there was someone else who I am not remembering (maybe not). Shortly before that, Amuso and Casso snuck back into town and more or less demoted D'Arco at a meeting. D'Arco claims they were going to kill Avellino in the hotel in addition to him, not sure why or how true that is

there's no way th, at anyone is killing anyone in a suite at the kimberlyy hotel. if you saw the hallways and got feel of the place you'd understand. Theyy are more like small apartments that ppl stay at for months at time during a divorce etc. but i was there in late 90's.

I agree, I never really believed they were going to kill someone, let alone two people now in a hotel. I never really stated my opinion on it because everyone seems so convinced on al D'Arco is telling the truth. Out of all the places to whack somebody back then, they choose that place? I think he was looking for a way out and needed a reason to convince everyone why he was flipping. 99% of the rats it all comes down to not wanting to do anymore time in jail, but they won't tell you that.

Always felt the same thing from the first time I heard the story. I don't really have a choice but to take D'Arco's word for it, none of us do, but it just seems like an odd place to hit 1-2 people and it never made sense to me. Were they going to leave the body and mess (it was supposed to be a shooting...) in the room? Where they going to take the body out somehow? Even if they had the room in a fake name, paid with cash, the camera in the lobby wasn't good enough to really spot everyone, etc. it seems like it wouldn't be hard for law enforcement to figure out. They knew who D'Arco was by that point I think - he shows up dead in a hotel room and the known hitters in the family instantly become suspects. Even without today's technology it seems like it wouldn't take too long to figure out.

Something like paging D'Arco to a certain phone and pulling a drive-by, leaving him on the street, when he's at that phone ... even something like that would be a lot cleaner

DeSantis kept going to the bathroom multiple times? Multiple guys getting nervous? Obvious bulge under his coat? A hotel room?

These guys were HEAVY hitters. Experienced. And Al makes it sound like it was their first time, sweating, bumbling, bathroom trips amatuer hour.

Why go to the bathroom? Why did the gun need 'prepping? Why did it need multiple times? He was in the hallway, couldnt have 'prepped' the gun then? In the fucking car outside?! Who needs to prep a gun? DeSantis was an experienced hitter. Just dont buy it.

You guys all make good points but consider that Pennisi said while he was a member he heard this story and yes D’Arco was to be killed at that meeting.

Maybe they had a good plan to get the body out? Lots of possibilities.

I'm torn on the whole thing as well. There's something off about the story we've been told.

BUT: With all that in mind.. I assume they weren't gonna leave the body to be found, right? Just chop it up and smuggle it out piece by piece (pun intended)... Not very difficult. Especially if it's a hotel for longer stays with less frequent cleaning etc. You could easily disappear a body in 12 hours.

The thing is we don’t know the whole story we probably don’t even know half of it. With so little info it’s understandable that something feels off.
