One of the greatest fighters of all time Tony Canzoneri with Mr Bonanno,His sons book claims Canzoneri was a capo in the family! Any truth to this?

He shows up on the FBI's list of deceased Bonanno members circa 1973, decades before Bill Bonanno mentioned him, so he was at least a Bonanno member.

Plenty of rare photographs from Tommy Ryan Eboli with his son talking and footage from the Castellani vs Durando bout where Eboli attacks Ray Miller

Is it Frankie Carbo who jumps in the ring to cool things?

Some more info on Canzoneri...

He may have been related to Bonanno / San Francisco member Ciro Gallo and it's possible too his family had an extended relation to early St. Louis leader Domenico Giambrone. I also have an FBI file where Canzoneri is listed as an associate of Tommy Lucchese. Canzoneri's father was also apparently referred to as a "Don" which doesn't necessarily mean he was a mafioso but I do suspect Canzoneri came from a mafia background.

Another boxing champion who was later made was Gambino member Louis Salica. His father was an early Gambino member and Louis began extorting unions and then was made after retiring from boxing. Longtime member of the Lilo Garofalo crew.

Thanks Mr B i shall have a look into them names.I think his mother ( Schiro)was involved with the New Orleans mafia in someway.

First time ive read about him linked with the Lucchese's! I wonder what he exactly did?

He had a restaurant on broadway for a spell but there isnt much info on it,Im wondering if these criminals just helped him through that and got a cut? Info is scarce on Canzoneri after his boxing career,Even his death i cant recall reading a cause for it at just 51

Ive heard of Salica but didnt realise the mafia links,Fascinating
