Pretty stupid of him to have all that stuff in his house knowing he could be raided at any time. And why do these mobters keep all these guns around when they never use them? It only gives them more problems having them laying around.

In Badamo's case, he's a drug dealer. So probably for protection. Doesn't sound like the sharpest guy though, says a lot about the Bonanno's that he's an acting captain.

"During the early-morning raid of Santoro's Tanglewood Drive residence, authorities collected seven firearms, several rounds of ammunition, 24 Viagra pills, $45,000 in cash and nine bags of marijuana found in several safes hidden throughout the home, NYPD Det. Shawn Ricker testified."

From the above article.

Let's be honest here, this is it? This is more like a personal stash not some illegal enterprise.

Doesn't say how much weed was in the 9 bags though.

Its funny how they want to Paint Big Lou as a scumbag who helped murder poor innocent Russell Mauro...lmao. Russell was a murderer himself playing a primary role in the Murder of Carmine Galante. I believe that Mauro was actually a shooter in that hit. At the time of his murder he was a suspect in several other murders besides Galante.

Why was he whacked his brother wants to know? Its right in the indictment. Not only was a he a murderer himself but he was dealing drugs and when everyone else was arrested and he wasn't he was deemed a rat.

killed in 1991 in part because he was suspected of being involved
in narcotics and, when he was not arrested, suspicion arose that
he might be cooperating. Mauro’s body was discovered in a body
bag in the trunk of a 1985 Lincoln vehicle, registered to Mauro’s
girlfriend, parked in front of 32-82 Street, Astoria, Queens. At
the time, Mauro’s body was badly decomposed.
Vitale, who was involved in ordering Mauro’s murder,
provided a detailed account of Mauro’s murder – a crime, like
many discussed here, that was not actively under investigation
until Vitale provided this information.

Bonanno trial update:

Innocuous terms and phrases such as "pretty waitress," "pretty girl," "chicken cutlets," "office" and "Captain Crunch" were part of a secret mob language alleged gangsters used before their clandestine codes were cracked, according to law enforcement officials.

After years of surveillance and hundreds of audio recordings obtained through cellphones, authorities were able to decipher the organized crime vernacular to establish an alleged pattern of illegal activity, NYPD Det. Angelo Barone testified Wednesday at the Bonanno crime family trial in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Judge to decide if alleged Bonnano crime boss gets home confinement

Supreme Court Justice Mark Dwyer could decide on Monday if alleged Bonnano crime boss Nicholas Santora will be released on home confinement, the judge said during proceedings Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Santora, who has been incarcerated for almost three years on enterprise corruption charges, was transferred to Bellevue Hospital last week.

The defendant, along with his three alleged Bonanno associates -- Anthony "Skinny" Santoro, 52, of Great Kills, Vito Badamo, 53, and Ernest Aiello, 36 -- are on trial for enterprise corruption after they were busted in July 2013.

Santora's attorney, Michael Alber, had previously asked the court for bail and home confinement after the 73-year-old's family noticed a deterioration in his health.

During a hearing Thursday, two medical experts testified about the mob defendant's condition and, specifically, his history of falls and whether that has led to a traumatic brain injury.

Judge denies alleged Bonanno crime boss' release on home confinement

Supreme Court Justice Mark Dwyer this week denied alleged Bonanno crime boss Nicholas Santora's release on home confinement, according to a spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney's office.

Santora, along with his three alleged Bonanno associates -- Anthony "Skinny" Santoro, 52, of Great Kills, Vito Badamo, 53, and Ernest Aiello, 36 -- are currently on trial in Manhattan Supreme Court for enterprise corruption, including loansharking, gambling and drug dealing, after they were busted in July 2013.

Santora's attorney, Michael Alber, had previously asked the court for bail and home confinement after the 73-year-old's family noticed a deterioration in his health.

Santora, who has been incarcerated for almost three years, was transferred to Bellevue Hospital two weeks ago before Dwyer heard medical testimony and made an official ruling.

Prosecution claims cash flowed to alleged Bonanno crime boss

The money flowed up to the "old boss."

Any proceeds from gambling and loansharking activities eventually made its way through the Bonanno crime family hierarchy and landed in alleged mob boss Nicholas Santora's hands, the prosecution claimed during the Bonanno mob trial Tuesday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

In breaking news Anthony 'Skinny' Santoro was made in a jailhouse ceremony and quickly elevated to Capo.

The Santora crew now consists of Santora, capo, Badamo, capo, Aiello, capo and Santoro, capo.

As I said in the other topic, Aiello was most likely acting capo for a Bronx crew, so it was simply Badamo acting for Nick Santora.

And Anthony Santoro was indicted as a soldier, so he was already made.

Thanks B.

It juat really annoys yours when Caprci can't get basic, but fundamental and important, terminology correct.

He refers in today's GL news to Santoro as an 'associate'. He's a soldier, made, not a friggen associate.
Aiello and Badamo are only 'acting' capo's. Not official.

These are inexcusable, basic, fundamental errors. Which for a reporter, with 25+yrs reporting this shit is atrocious.

His column is for paid subscribers. Not mum n dads picking up their daily news. People who pay for this specialized information have an interest and are educated in the material. And he does himself no favours by his at best, lazy or at worst deliberately deceptive erroneous writing.

It's not that hard.

I agree with that. At this point his audience are us mob nerds who care about the specific terms used. It might not make a difference in the grand scheme whether a guy is officially a captain or only acting, but the type of people who read Gangland every week are the ones who care.

He has always done this to some degree, though... i.e. referred to guys as "capo" when he knows they are "acting capo" and that type of thing. It could also be that he has new info that IDs certain guys (i.e. Aiello) as official captains. Probably not, but still possible. Capeci is definitely not perfect but one thing I appreciate is he admits mistakes.

With Santoro at least there was some conflicting info. I believe initial reports had him as an associate but he was later confirmed as a soldier. His association with the Badamos goes back over 20 years, as he was part of a robbery team led by Vito Badamo Sr. (Bonanno soldier based out of Rhode Island and Pennsylvania) and Vito Jr. Another associate involved in the robbery was killed by cops. Only Bonannos I know of who ever operated in New England.
