Yeah Sr didn't do right by Jr while they were in jail on that case, that's when he split off and formed Liberty.

There was a previous investigation these guys were involved in and the Feds couldn’t pin anything on them so they picked the low hanging fruit and hit them with the tax charges. I do agree though it was egregious and they were almost asking for it, if you knew Alex you’d understand he’s a rub it in your face kind of guy.
My father has owned a rebar business forever. He's been involved in rebar, post tension cables etc since as long as I can remember. Never would think of putting your business in jeopardy for a freaking boat and stuff like that. There is alot of stuff you can write off and get away with. But, this is not it. The thing about state funded jobs is they pay and you don't have to wait months for the check to clear.

My long winded point is losing the opportunity to bid on state funded jobs will hurt them more in the long run then the material things they bought in the short term imo.

They never did state funded jobs anyway nor did they ever try to bid state funded contracts. 90% their work was on private residences who had insurance through American Water Resources.

The old article said MTA construction contracts... that's not run by the state of New York?

"A Brooklyn plumbing contractor, Alex Figliolia Jr., has emerged at the center of both probes – one into bribery and graft on MTA construction contracts..."

I see where the miscommunication is. That old case involved the company owned and operated by Alex Sr. Yes that company did MTA work but once they went to prison father and son had a falling out and never spoke to one another again. Alex Jr then opens Liberty which is the company involved in this new case. Liberty is what I was referring to when I said they never did state contracts.

I realize that info about the old case is new to you but to me it’s ancient history.

The real crime is the fact that the government wants 4 million of the 10 million they made.

It seems like this is the way LE is going after big crews.
They can’t get them on any serious charges so bring cases like this to squeeze them financially.
