Matteo Messina Denaro has died

Post by Dr031718 »

Notorious Sicilian Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, captured in January after three decades on the run, has died in hospital in central Italy, the ANSA news agency reported Monday.

The 61-year-old had colon cancer, for which he had sought treatment while on the run -- a decision that brought him to the attention of the authorities, who arrested him at a clinic in Palermo.

Matteo Messina Denaro was definitely an evil man, but he is far from being sole problem in the war against mafia. Members of secret services/politicians/freemasonry members who protected him for 30+ years , not just him but also Riina and Provenzano , people who are real power behind the mafia will never see any prison time. Borsellino's brother said that Matteo's arrest was probably deal between state and mafia and people who ordered Falcone's and Borsellino's death will probably never serve any prison time.

Few years ago when mafia wanted to kill Nino Di Matteo , Matteo Messina Denaro said that same people who wanted Falcone and Borsellino dead ordered it and that it has to be done, luckily police learned about it thru informants and seized explosives and arrested several people. But that indicates that those people are still in power and still free. Also during 'Ndrangheta stato-mafia trial several witnesses said: "Real power behind 'Ndrangheta are people that don't even have a parking ticket". Those people are the real problem , without them mafia would be average street gang.

Completely agree with you here.
However, citizens of Italy are cheering for the death of Messina-Denaro. It's not like in the US where people think it's some kind of pride to be in the mafia, related to, or know them. It's disgraceful and shameful to Italians. Furio is spot on by saying rest in hell.

Good point. Hopefully they don't have quite the number of mob fanboys like we have here on this site and in American society in general.

There is no 'clear candidate' like we had with Riina-Provenzano-Denaro. Giovanni Motisi is on most wanted list since 1998 , but he is basically a ghost , its unknown if he is even still alive. Some informants claim he is alive and still running things.

Most powerful families are Greco's,Guttadauro's,Lo Piccolo's. Guttadauro's are intermarried with Denaro's , so i would say they are most powerful now.

If Motisi is still alive, does that make him the clear candidate to be the next boss of bosses?......Sol

Imo it could also be that the next most important boss is somebody we never heard about, maybe some freemason lodge member without a criminal record even, much less a fugitive status, unlike Motisi...
