Los Angeles police and the Mafia?
The L.A. police is so corrupt as many say? And has the US mafia ever managed to bribe as many cops as on the east coast?
Re: Los Angeles police and the Mafia?
Don’t talk about crooked cops and things that don’t exist
Re: Los Angeles police and the Mafia?
Honest police officers are conjectured everyday just from being from the neighborhood. There’s two sides to every story curio

Not sure where your LAPD is "so corrupt" information is from. During the last fifty-five years, LAPD has been well known for being a solid, ethical, professional and efficient Police Department (though pretty much emasculated by the liberal, woke mob in L.A.).
Prior to that; yes. There was an underground group of cops that were corrupt and bad, as memorialized in numerous mob movies portraying events in the 1930's, 1940's and early 1950's.

Al Guasti used to be a corrupt captain in the Sheriffs Department in the 1940s and 1950s who cooked up a scheme to take over Mickey Cohen’s gambling operations along with Jack Dragna. The conspiracy failed because of Guasti being kicked off the force and then indicted for trying to protect the department’s „turf” from the LAPD.

Guasti’s the guy sitting on the left side of the bench.

Scandel: Yes. Institutionalized corruption: certainly not. If you are going to find facts, stick with reputable news sources, Furio. Wikipedia is full of misinformation or manipulated information, conjecture and outright false information. But since you (mis)quoted the article, you failed to read this part of it: " ... 24 were actually found to have committed any wrongdoing, with twelve given suspensions of various lengths, seven forced into resignation or retirement, and five terminated."furiofromnaples wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:59 pm https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rampart_scandal

Jimmy the Weasal Fratiano was head of the LA Mafia in the mid 1970's. He never mentioned any corruption with the LAPD.

Re: Los Angeles police and the Mafia?
Actually Fratianno was just acting underboss when Brooklier & Sciortino had legal troubles. Louis Tom Dragna was acting boss

And Jimmy enjoyed acting like the Boss. He went East onbehalf of Tommy Marsoon from Palm Springs to get his money out of hte Westchester Premier Theater and was in that infamous pic with SInatra and Castellano and Gambino. Brooklier in prison wa snot a happy camper with that development!
