Members borrowing another member's identity

Post by B. »

One time Angelo Bruno left his own driver's license with the Piccolos and borrowed member Tony Piccolo's license for a road trip with the intention of pretending to be him had he been stopped.

Angelo Bruno also frequently used member Charles Costello's name when traveling but they were cousins so you can kind of understand why he was chosen. I guess in Piccolo's case he was low-key and ostensibly fairly legitimate but it's strange that someone would use another member's identity and potentially put him in a compromising position when they could just as easily borrow a friend / relative / associate's identity and draw less heat.

Carmine Galante used Joe Beck DiPalermo's ID when he was arrested for Apalachin, that's another example. Joe Bonanno says Gaspare DiGregorio was carrying Bonanno's driver's license when he was stopped in Apalachin as well and gives a convoluted story about why DiGregorio had it but I don't know what to think about it.

Any other known examples of this?

I recall an example of Carmine Galante using the ID of Joe Beck DiPalermo (I believe it was him) during some kind of car stop.
