No, and I'm pretty sure the purse is why he's been targeted for murder in the past.
Maybe they're behind in Canada, because nobody even blinks an eye to men wearing those bags nowadays, and in Italy and Europe it's been worn for decades by men. Nobody even notices.
Everybody wants to be Italian until it comes to authentic Italian food, fashion, customs, culture.

I know this is not directly related to the mafia, but not being accustomed to the culture of Montreal, that fanny pack looking thing Pizzi has on, is that popular with men in that area?

Gotcha. I am more of a family guy comedy. You know from the fart jokes, to the very obvious to the more subtle jokes. And when Jennifer Anniston got really hot I had to turn on friends to watch those perky titties at the time. I was in my teens then-16,17.

Lachine resident faces 5-year sentence for downtown Montreal shooting. Argument began when someone made a comment about Thomas Makdessi's Gucci-brand "man purse." He did not reply by quoting Seinfeld to claim it was "European." https://montrealgazette.com/news/local- ... l-shooting via ⁦‪@mtlgazette‬⁩
Unrelated to mob? But it doesn't matter. Right on que. Montreal never fails. Art imitating life

The SPVM has tweeted about the arrest. I’ve yet to check the press-conference replay on YouTube to see whether the police are still refraining from using her name.

Incidentally, if anyone thinks parts of Claudia Iacono’s family tree are of any interest for our purposes, let me know, and I’ll post it — I finished a short while back, and you’ll be able to see how laughable the claims of her Calabrian ancestry have been.

The paragraph farther below from the article about Claudia Iacono’s murder contains the often misunderstood background about the watered-down support Sal Montagna had from Bonanno members like Moreno Gallo, Joe Di Maulo, and Joe Renda (I’ll be providing more details about Renda’s loose ties to Montagna when I finish my profiles of Renda, Lorenzo Lo Presti, and Joseph Sciascia). Di Maulo has always been correctly depicted as a fence sitter, and Gallo strikes me as being the same.

If the Business or Blood authors are correct, 1. Moreno Gallo committed an indiscretion when he turned over Vito Rizzuto’s sportsbook in the Greater Toronto Area to Ontario Calabrians (might actually be the Book that was transferred), and 2. Rizzuto wanted to meet Gallo while the former vacationed in the Dominican Republic — Andrew Scoppa seems to think that mediation was more on Rizzuto’s mind than violence was; that if Rizzuto wasn’t under the spell of Stefano Sollecito, then Gallo would never have been killed. Recall from Business or Blood that Roger Valiquette was involved with Raynald Desjardins in soil decontamination (might be the business the younger Arcuris were involved in), was partnered with Tonino Callocchia in developing real estate, and had been close to Di Maulo and Gallo.

Iacono was the daughter-in-law of Moreno Gallo, a very influential figure on the Calabrian side of the Montreal Mafia before he was killed in Mexico a decade ago. Gallo was killed three years to the day after Nicolo (Zio Cola) Rizzuto was killed in his home by a sniper who was positioned outside. Since then, investigators have theorized that the date was carefully chosen to kill Gallo to send a message. The same investigators believe Gallo could have used his influence to prevent Rizzuto from being killed, but opted to do nothing.

I think Gallo was dying regardless of Sollecito’s input to Vito, especially after he gave the book up and him obviously playing on both sides after Vito was arrested

But Rizzuto got the sportsbook/Book back from the Calabrians by going to Ontario and persuading them to return it; they remembered that they made money with him. He didn’t have to kill anyone to accomplish its return. He wanted Di Maulo to rein in Desjardins; Di Maulo responded that Desjardins was his brother-in-law.

But was Desjardins really a proxy for Di Maulo? Did Desjardins have Montagna killed with Di Maulo’s blessing? If Di Maulo really wanted to accept a captain position offered to him from the New York Bonannos, his first order of business would have been to kill Desjardins, Mirarchi, and others in that camp who were more than happy to kill Montagna. Di Maulo’s probable answer to New York’s request to kill Desjardins: He’s my brother-in-law.

Desjardins was really a proxy for Mirarchi, though, wasn’t he? Desjardins probably wanted the New York Bonannos to offer Mirarchi a captain position, but when they didn’t, Desjardins and Mirarchi had it out for Nancy.

I think Desjardins was doing his own thing after he kind of got out from under Di Maulo’s wing so to speak. It seems Raynald was making his own decisions at least after he first got out of that long stretch he first served. I think that’s why they went to Di Maulo and he said what he said.

As for Mirarchi and Desjardins, has Mirarchi ever been listed as a Bonanno? I was thinking he wasn’t one of their soldiers.

And yea it does seem like if anything the moves Raynald made benefitted Mirarchi more than anyone. If Desjardins took any order from anyone up there I think the only one that could do it would be Mirarchi. They are definitely using each other as Raynald needs the prestige of Mirarchi’s last name and Mirarchi needs the manpower Ray can provide.

I just wonder what the Desjardins/Mirarchi dynamic is like at current day? With the rumors of them possibly splitting since Ray pleaded out early and I think I remember a story that said Mirarchi was even working with the Rizzutos it makes me wonder if Mirarchi has totally turned on Ray or not?

I'd be interested in seeing it. I believe Nicolo Mr Sidewalk Milioto was their uncle.

Sorry if this was already posted but it seems like Frank Cotroni Sr’s widow, Pauline Desormiers, recently died. Her funeral was held, of course, at the Loreto. I’ll take that as a sign that Frank Jr. And Nicodemo are loyal to the regime.
