Yeah he’s going to be 100 this year!

His residence is 30 I St, Seaside Park NJ; but I’ve seen comments saying that he’s staying with family in Florida.

It looks like his kids are living at his Sedgewick Avenue house in Yonkers, NY.

He got his own crew after the Greenwich Village Crew split. By that point, Dentico was in his 70s. From the looks of it, Dentico got promoted because he was close to the Genovese bosses, specifically Chin and the two Doms. He spent some of his early life as a 'Yonkers guy.' You can describe his ascent in the chain of command as living long enough to be his turn. In the early 1980s, he was still in Yonkers -- 75 Carlton Road. The Yonkers Police Department organized a 'surveillance group' to track his activities in the 70s and 80s. In the mid-1990s, Dentico inherited *some* of the remnants of Gatto's gambling operations in Bergen County.

Gatto's crew was blue-collar, but they had white-collar activities and quite a few of them. He basically inherited what remained of the Catena crew, which remained almost unchanged under LaPlaca. And he did quite a good job maintaining the crew's influence. Gatto spent the 80s actively running Fiumara's operations, too. FBI informants described him as an elder statesman for the family in NJ, so he was pretty much the informal leader of the New Jersey faction of the family during this period. He was the guy to see if there were problems between NYC crews and NJ of the family + problems with other LCN families in NJ. Wolshonak did the grunt work -- cracking heads, supervising the gambling empire, white-collar intimidation, etc. So, you can describe their work method as Gatto being the head, while Wolshonak was the body.

P4P Gatto probably had more money & influence than Dentico due to the era he operated in, but it's also kind of like a big fish in a little pond situation with that pigmy shit over there in Jersey.
Hi eboli--- didnt they operate in the same era basically as they are only 6-7 yrs apart. wow these guys go back! the jrs are my parents age and sr's a couple yrs older than my grandparents! im assuming aside form that grandson that was selling weed, all the kids don't bother w this life? more info pls! my PA can format all this shit, print it out and give me good reading material-- i have a good amount of plane time ahead of me. Not exactly. Dentico became a top guy in the 90s. Gatto supervised large-scale gambling rackets since he was a soldier, became a capo in the 70s, then 'ran North Jersey' in the 80s before his indictment. Gatto inherited operations set up and expanded for decades by the former heads of his crew. They swallowed up a ton of rackets from other organizations, too. Dentico did well for himself -- he was involved in racketeering and extortion schemes but significantly smaller in scale.

I know Bobby Manna was big, but how major of players were Johnny DiGilio and Andy Gerardo in the NJ faction of the Westside?

Silvio DeVita eventually took over the Gerardo crew.

I will say I think the Genovese family has only one crew based in New Jersey at this point - the DePiro (formerly Fiumara/Coppola) crew. I know Capeci labeled DeVita as a captain as recently as 2020. However, DeVita is in his 90's (old even by LCN standards), I think he lives in Florida now, and there are only a couple old crew members still alive. Not to mention the last time any of them were charged was back in the 1990s.

The only other NY family crew based in New Jersey is, of course, the Lucchese family's crew. And naturally there are NY-based crews that have activity in Jersey.

Didn't think this was worth it's own thread. Just a NJ Commission of Investigation report from May, which lists some connections to the Genovese family that a developer has. The developer's ties to local officials of Edgewater in Bergen County being the main focus of the inquiry. Elsewhere, the unnamed Genovese member mentioned was said to be the late Michael "Tona" Borelli.
