States that Allegretti was "sponsored" by Prio into the Chicago "Family", while DiVarco was "sponsored" by Accardo, even though he was an associate working for Prio before he was "made":

Doesn't give us an idea of the years he was talking about, I don't recall offhand if we have any other sources for exactly when DiVarco was inducted. So, it could have been when Accardo was boss, or prior to that when he was (presumably) a captain. Either way, this was perhaps before Prio was a captain (which may have happened around 1948-1950-ish), and we don't have enough info to make firm conclusions about what the crew structures were in these earlier periods, so it's hard to say whether DiVarco may have initially been made into a different crew and later transferred to Prio's crew.
I remember seeing that DiVarco was made in the 1940s.
Yeah, that was my impression also but not sure offhand who the source was (I'd have to check again and see if DeRose said it). DeRose told us that Prio and his men betrayed Benevento to side with Accardo and were rewarded for it, so my guess is that Accardo sponsored DiVarco while boss in this context.

Can't remember where I saw it. Maybe DiVarco's file.

From 1969. One CI refers to someone connected to Gino's East as a "well-known member" (unclear whether this meant made or a formal associate). My guess would be Butch LoVerde, unless there is another candidate that I'm not thinking of. If so, this would indicate that LoVerde was not affiliated with the Prio crew, despite the location of the pizzeria.

Another CI believed that Solano was about to "become a boss" in Prio's crew. I don't think this was referring to Solano being groomed to succeed Prio, as it likely would have been worded differently and besides, Solano didn't become captain of the crew until after DiBella (and possibly DiVarco for a period). When Prio died in 1972, another CI (who if I'm not mistaken was Ralph Pierce, so not a member but not a nobody) stated that DiVarco had been slated to replace Prio but that it went to DiBella instead due to DiVarco's legal issues (he was pinched on a gun charge in '71). Thus it's possible that this informant could be referring to Solano getting inducted around this time, unless a solid source tells us that he was made at another time. We have previously discussed a bugged conversation where Prio and DiBella discussed Jasper Campise having become an "avugad", and Frank Cullotta had reported before that associates referred to made guys in Chicago generally as "bosses" (because to them, they were).

1963 CI apparently claimed that a bookie for the Prio crew was a relative of Gaetano Ricci; no obvious name comes to mind for me at the moment.

After re-reading the Prio wiretap, I do think he might have been using "avugad" simply to mean made member. Our idea of "avugad" = Commission member aside, the word makes sense for a member given they now serve as a representative and advocate for those around them who aren't members. It plays into the secrecy around Chicago membership too given Prio and DiBella are whispering about who is an "avugad" in Chicago.

It tells us too that Campise was not yet a member of the Northside crew at this time given Prio and DiBella are gossiping about his status as if it's not common knowledge between them.

While we've come to learn that geography was not strictly diagnostic (above I discussed Prio crew interests connecting to IN, WI, and DuPage County; the FBI also had intel that Prio secured the rights to coin-operated machines in Ralph Capone's former territory including dozens of businesses in Cicero), in the 1950s and 60s Campise was living on the Westside and apparently involved with Westside guys (The Tribune had stated in this period that Campise was involved in juice loans with Patsy Clementi, for example). Guys from different crews definitely had partnerships, but I have yet to see anything until later years that show Campise working with guys from the Prio crew. So I think this, coupled with the (to me, at least) pretty obvious Prio/DiBella conversation from 1963 supports that initially, Campise was probably not made into the Prio crew but rather transferred at some point later on. He was clearly made by 1963, but does not appear at all in any of the reports in Prio's large file other than this one conversation, where DiBella was informing Prio of Campise's status. Compare this to Johnny Gattuso, who in the 1960s was documented by the FBI as a close associate of DiVarco and hanging out in the usual Northside crew spots.

BokaBreeze, aka “MarcBasil”, aka “ComeBackLucy”, etc etc has now discovered our TMA Chicago episodes, which I’m sure gave him a conniption fit. Along with his usual Giancana worship, he’s also spouting all his old stuff about how the Commission, which consists of the bosses of every extant Family in the US, still meets regularly in FL, in person, all together.

We already said that Giancana wasn’t boss after ‘66, which caused a meltdown for him I’m sure, as he is literally in love with Giancana (says things like he was one of the most feared and respected men in the whole WORLD, etc).

I tried to engage in a conversation with him. Someone had a beard and I said he couldn't made unless he was on the run or something to that effect and he flipped. He told me I was wrong and how he was about to get on a plane but he was willing to miss his flight to proof me wrong. He acted like I infringed on his first amendment right to speak. He went ballistic and the moderator I think stepped in and I have ignored him ever since. The kid/adult or whatever he Is gets all riled up real easily.

Yeah they’re all coming out the woodwork now. Boka, Stanger, Wemette — it’s like a Chicago outfit “expert” goofball hat trick. Unfortunately, Chicago brings out the weirdos like nothing else.
