Crea ordered Bruno and alleged Yonkers mobster Paul "Paulie Roast Beef" Cassano to kill Carl Ulzheimer, a Bonanno crime family associate who lived in the Bronx in 2012, according to the Feds.

Specifically, the Feds have alleged that in 2012, "armed members and associates of the Bonanno Family of La Cosa Nostra forced their way into a Bronx social club controlled by the Luchese Family." During the ensuing confrontation, Ulzheimer, a Bonanno associate, "acted in a manner that a leader of the Luchese Family, Steven L. Crea perceived as a personal affront. To avenge this supposed offense, Crea Sr. ordered his son, Steven D. Crea to have the Associate killed." Crea Jr. passed the order to Paul Cassano and Bruno. On a subsequent night, the two traveled to Ulzheimer’s Bronx residence, where Bruno, hefting a pistol, tried to find Ulzheimer and kill him, but failed.

"The dispute between the rival families was then resolved before the murder was carried out."

The fact that an italian crime family have a neo nazi as associate isnt a good thing,for the nazis the italians arent part of the Aryans.

Ulzheimer is also a friend of the aspiring congresswoman for the Bronx Tina Forte.

I don't think he was ever an actual on record associate that was kicking up to a made member. Most likely just a guy from the Bronx that knew some guys so they brought him to the social club for the stampede.

Considering AOC has done literally nothing, whatsoever... negative or positive...to impact the district...literally zero... I'm curious how I'll have "more freedom" if Forte manages to unseat her.

Like Ulzheimer, Tina Forte is a TN local (Ulzheimer I believe lived on Bayview Ave in Country Club for a long time). She's on the Front Lines fighting to Stop Radical Socialism (they all have their grift, of course). I do live in the district but don't vote for any of these clowns, though I agree that it would've been extremely entertaining if Forte had somehow managed to unseat AOC (who blew Forti out of the water 7 to 3, of course, last November).

Being from Chicago, the concept of voting for felons and their relatives is normal. But, I was raised on raw patronage politics. We voted for someone because they got your cousin a job working for a precinct captain or at a truck yard in Streets and Sanitation, not for fake things like "ideology" lol. Now they're all promising to save us from one or another "ism". I miss the old politicians from my youth who were basically just amoral "bosses" who sought to openly shower their friends with favors and shit on their enemies, without pretending to dress it up in any political principles bigger than "We don't want nobody that nobody sent".

Yeah it sounds sick, but I kind of agree with you lol - although Chicago is probably unrivaled in that regard. The regular graft machine before the 'information era' was so much more tolerable. The layers of bamboozling and culture war shit they try to mask it with today is just exhausting. Exhausting, cheap, and frankly insulting.

That's why I personally find it so funny with the past two presidential administrations, everyone is up in arms about nepotism. Like wait a second, this is a surprise to you? You expect someone in that position to NOT hook up their sons, daughters, in-laws, whoever , with as much money and influence as possible? Anyway...don't want to get any more into it here lol.

November 2024. I'm not a huge politics person but follow local a lot more than everything else. Her district isn't as 'blue' as one would think and could easily flip, if the opposition ran someone who wasn't a complete lunatic . They might not even bother having anyone run against her during a national election year though. There are actually some Democratic assemblymen in that district that would be good candidates too. I'd bet everything I have and leverage it 100 times over that if a republican does run against her, they are going to completely fumble it from the jump and it'll be someone like Forte again.

Of course basically no one actually cares about nepotism and corruption, they only “care” to the extent that they can weaponize outrage against the Other Side. When their people do it, they have every excuse in the book, if they even acknowledge it, but when the Other Side does it, all of a sudden eberybody’s the Council for Good Government.

And while my comments were a bit tongue-in-cheek, it was only a bit. Chicago elevated patronage/machine politics to an art form, a neo-feudal system of local Big Men in fealty to the Top Boss, from whence all clout flowed, which the local bosses could then redistribute to make things happen for their people in their local fiefdoms. Despite all of the rampant corruption and cronyism, you could get something taken care of just by reaching out to someone with the right connections, and everyone knew their local precinct captains and such who could grease the wheels or get them a hearing with the Man. It was gritty and could get quite ugly but it was also personal and very human.

I'm definitely interested. This looks awesome. Going to check this out. I don't remember where I saw it, but over 10+ yrs ago I saw regular cable channel doc about The Outfit and half of it was about Roti and some specific case he fixed. That was the first time I had heard of Roti and thought it was pretty crazy. I knew about the alderman and ward boss systems back from history class as a kid basically, and it wasn't too surprising to hear about LCN & ward boss relationships , but I was surprised to learn there was a made Outfit guy who was an Alderman himself. Multiple now...never heard of Marzullo until your post right now.

I was going to ask a GangsterBB'ish type of question - who would be considered more powerful in Chicago way back when: Accardo, or the Alderman of a huge and prominent ward (something like the 27th ward on today's map for example) until I realized that if the Outfit already had 2 of it's own members running two wards just like that... I already have my answer

Apart from Roti and Marzullo, there was also John D’Arco Sr, Alderman and Democratic Committeeman of the 1st Ward, the same Ward that Roti was later Alderman of. There was also Joe Imburgio Bulger, who had been Mayor of the Italian suburb of Melrose Park, as well as Pat Marcy, longtime head of the 1st Ward Democratic Organization (not an elected public office, but extremely powerful in raw political terms). The old 1st Ward of a Chicago (which was broken up in the early 90s following the Federal takedown of Marcy and Roti) encompassed the Loop and City Hall. Thus, whoever controlled the 1st Ward had tremendous influence over zoning and construction in the Loop (a lot of envelopes had to be passed to build all those skyscrapers), the largest business and financial center in the US outside of Manhattan, and the City services and thus the attendant army of City patronage jobs (of which the extended Roti clan and their neighborhood buddies from Bridgeport had an entire battalion). The old 1st Ward Aldermen were nearly as important as the Mayor, and it was arguably one of the single most powerful public offices in the State of IL. Thus D’Arco and Roti (and Marcy, behind the scenes) weren’t just any Aldermen. Roti’s dad, Bruno Roti, BTW, was probably a capodecina and was also the head of an important Calabrese paesani Society (La Società San Rocco di Simbario, which is still going: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brulelaker/52562414039).

And yes, of course these guys were beholden to their own shadow “Machine” first and foremost. A CI in the ‘60s told the Feds that Giancana, as boss, had sole prerogative in designating political offices, as witnessed by the time that he ordered D’Arco to step down as Alderman so that Giancana could run one of his own relatives. The mafia had plenty of other important Italian politicians as their puppets, apart from the ones that were actually made guys. Recently it was revealed that the FBI considered Frank Annunzio, 13 time US Congressman from Chicago, to be a possible LCN member as well, though this remains unconfirmed.
