According to information from Radio-Canada, the suspect is linked to street gangs. His role in the attack against the Italian mafia remains to be defined, but he would have participated actively in the plan which failed.

The articles have been updated with a name. Kevin Rochebrun is who police brought in last night. He was involved in the attempted murder of Marco Pizzi a few years ago.

Not unusual at all in Quebec and other provinces.

How Rochebrun was handled is exactly how Del Balso was: arrested; not charged; then released, with a promise to appear before a judge on a specific date, at which time charges could be brought forth against him. There may also be other conditions attached to a release, ranging from not abusing drugs/alcohol to not contacting specific people.

If you don’t appear as promised, a warrant can be issued for your arrest.
