Re: Peter Tuccio made in Philly?
Philly is much more relaxed about straightening out guys, for example Bent Finger Lou was going to be proposed and he’s 1/2 Irish and his Father was Philly PD.

Well this fact changes everything and somehow I totally missed this, my apologies. When did we learn of this meeting? Please send me the link to the article or video or whatever medium this info was contained in. I thought I was all caught up on the latest info involving tuccio that appears to be wrong.

I believe it was from Pennisi or Scott B in a video.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 5:07 amWell this fact changes everything and somehow I totally missed this, my apologies. Re: Peter Tuccio made in Philly?
Pennisi's story about how Merlino and Tuccio met is really funny. I forget the video title but it's one of the videos in his small "Peter Pan" series - which is actually a pretty crazy disrespectful nickname for the kid, no matter what people think about him or what he did years ago lol.
Anyway, apparently the Philly guys were in Howard Beach meeting with Pennisi and Perna - and Pennisi was talking about Tuccio (I forget why, but he goes into the reason why his name was even brought up on the video. I think Pennisi was having issues getting him in line). Pennisi said how Tuccio was banned from the restaurant they were all at, essentially one of the most popular and revered-by-all places in the neighborhood - and that was enough for Merlino. He loved it, supposedly found it hilarious, and wanted to meet the kid right away.
Kind of funny. Merlino hears a story about this kid ostensibly acting like an asshole in the type of neighborhood place you aren't supposed to do that in, and said "this kid sounds great!"
I'd love to actually hear the story of why Tuccio got banned from the place too. Maybe Pennisi mentioned it in another video. If anyone knows what I am talking about - fill me in

It was Matteo’s on Cross Bay Blvd, Tuccio started a fight with the bartender or something along those lines iirc.newera_212 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:06 pm

Re: Peter Tuccio made in Philly?
Which one would you guys reccomend Matteo’s or Lenny’s? I have never been to either , I need a new Mets pregame supper spot…
I’m looking for a new pregame meal spot before Mets games in Queens, typically I go to Parkside (Tony Federici’s spot RIP) or the Colombian bars/restaurants nearby before Mets games.
Typically the Colombian Bars/Restaurants end up in disaster because Colombian broads are my weakness. The Dames at the Colombian bars sometimes will get me so fucked up on Aquadiente I don’t even make it into Citi Field but I leave with their number and a bag of shim speaking broken Spanish…
Last time I was at Parkside I took an absolute smokeshow Venezuelan 21 year old girl who didn’t really speak English , was only here for 5 months. I end up spending $250 on supper and giving her a purse for a gift , don’t get laid. Two days later she sends me videos of her smokeshow self
Stripping and tells me using Google Translate that she will fuck me if I pay her gas bill lol Fuck My Life hahahaha

Lenny's and Matteo's are very different. Lenny's is very casual and bare bones. I like what Lenny's is known for (clams) and I like how late they stay open with a full menu, so I go there more than Matteo's. Matteo's is okay but put it this way, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there unless I had to. I don't live in or really near Howard Beach. but I've gone out there specifically for Lenny's.
If you're looking for something closer to Flushing and have done Parkside one too many times, look into Triangolo down the street. It's on Junction and Corona Ave. They were closed for a while, well past Covid, thought they were closed for good but it looks like they are open again. The owner grew up a few blocks away (still lives there) - he does the hosting and his wife does a lot of the cooking. There isn't a dress code but at the same time, he may turn you away if you show up in a jersey or all Mets' out. If someone shows up too overboard or sloppy he'll turn them away and literally suggest they go to Parkside instead. Also, if the staff sees you with your phone on the table they'll tell you to put it away. Small place, really good food - worth the "rules" but buyer beware if you're looking for a pre-game type atmosphere.
If you're up for some Dominican food check out La Brisa (Brisa del Cibao is the official name) on 103rd . Pretty chaotic on 103rd but I'm sure you already know.
Full disclosure - I haven't been to any of these places, besides take out from La Brisa, since before Covid. They're all still alive and well though

Lennys is mediocre at best. As far as Howard Beach you have Matteos & Bruno’s, both very good. Then you have Don Pepe’s 2 minutes away, there’s nothing good about Don Pepe except the food. The food is excellentNJShore4Life wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 7:15 pm Which one would you guys reccomend Matteo’s or Lenny’s? I have never been to either , I need a new Mets pregame supper spot…
