Another huge break for the 5 families.

Big news. Will be curious to see if the NY families start getting more brazen.

Narcotics is not the problem it was 20 years ago? Okay...
Re: Nypd shuts down Mafia investigating units
It appears to be just a reorganization of investigative procedure, tiers and units.
"I figure I’m gonna have to do about 6000 years before I get accepted into heaven. And 6000 years is nothing in eternity terms. I can do that standing on my head. It’s like a couple of days here."

Half the kids in NY moved from pills to heroin in the last few years.rayray wrote:Narcotics is not the problem it was 20 years ago? Okay...

Just shows the politics into this. Obviously in the past 15 years the priorities have changed. One thing though that the FBI or any politician can say is that they eraficated the mob. So if the families get more bold and some hits go down the head the Justice dept and the FBI will be left holding the bag when the caring citizens go "You told us the mob was dead 25 years ago!!!"

Perhaps Ivy et al could assist with this but I recall a figure of 100 detectives working OC?
If that's the case and they've been reassigned. That's unbelievably huge for the 5.

Re: Nypd shuts down Mafia investigating units
I stand corrected its the NYPDA whos closing down shop. Still that is a lot of intelligance that the FBI will now with their limites resources go out and have to get on their own. I wonder if the 5 families will become as stable as Detroit.
Re: Nypd shuts down Mafia investigating units
It was back in the 1980s and 1990s that there were 100 or so NYPD detectives, in addition to the 350 FBI agents, going after the mob. It hasn't been that way for some time now.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Perhaps Ivy et al could assist with this but I recall a figure of 100 detectives working OC?

On their worst day the NY families are far more stable than Detroit. They've proven have a sufficient supply of recruits that keep their memberships stable. Can't say the same for Detroit. Don't mistake little or nothing happening for stability.brianwellbrock wrote:I wonder if the 5 families will become as stable as Detroit.
All roads lead to New York.

The Feds are also cutting 300 million in funding to NYC's anti-terorrism units. So it is not just the OC and drug units that are feeling the pinch.
