Some of those points stood out to me as well. I think D’Arco was likely close with and friendly with Jimmy Ida who was from little Italy. And it seems likely that Ida had issues with Bellomo even before the issues that arose during their case. If I recall right, didn’t it come out at one point that Ida was planning to kill Bellomo? Jimmy Ida runs a gambling spot at 161 Mulberry St. It is run for him by Tommy Gigalie, who’s involved with the gambling at the San Gennaro Feast. Gigalie is a made member, sponsored by Eli Zeccardi. Gigalie owns La Mela Restaurant.

Any info on Gigalie? Probably dead since Ziccardi was killed in 1977.

Interesting Nicky the blond was placed with jimmy Ida to basically keep Chin in the loop. Al darco talked highly of Ida . I think Ida was waiting for Chin to go to jail or die and he would have tried to take over the family. Barney was in his way.

Ida shoulda took the plea and he would have came home...I can understand trying to beat a case but sometimes the Feds have you by the balls...just ask Genie Gotti or Johnny Carneglia if they wish they would have pled out...I know John made his guys take their cases to the box, at least Joe Butch had enough brains and balls to say fuck you and took the deal when he caught a case...

Yaeh jimmy Ida was offered I think 12yrs didn't take it and has been in for 27yrs. Think long think wrong. Probably would have only did like 9yrs of the 12 with good time and halfway house time

I think so. He could have held control on 10 yrs. Would have been out way back in 2006ish

Yeah, there were a couple where that happened , one was in prison, that D'Arco was said to witness. The final was one where supposedly Jimmy Ida snapped and just flat out told D'Arco they were going to kill him. D'Arco seemed like he was close with Ida according to his book. They would go on late night walks together by the river (no homo - it was close to where Ida's girlfriend lived) and Al lived one floor below Ida's right hand man . They seemed close

I’m sure it counts for something but it’s not like a union job where seniority rules no matter what. From all available info it seems like Chin personally anointed Barney so that factor might have overruled Ida’s seniority.

Was Ida in the "inner Chin circle"? Didn't Chin not really care for that other Little Italy crew , DeFeo, Inanello, etc.

I don't want to sound like a GBB fantasy poster but if it came down to Ida versus Bellomo I'd bet Bellomo et. al. would have made Ida disappear first
