Re: Dave Iacovetti
He’s a really interesting guy because he was all over the place.
He was born Jul 21 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to Ferdinand “Fred” Iacovetti and Emily Ilvento. In 1930, his family lived at 9714 95th St, Queens, NY. In 1935, they were back in Brooklyn, but by 1937, they had moved to Altoona, PA (2022 Pleasant Valley Ave).
By 1941, he was married and living at 2026 Pleasant Valley Blvd. In 1943, he divorced and was remarried to Anna Altieri, from Altoona, PA, in Winchester, VA. He was living at 2326 7th Ave, Altoona, PA.
In 1950, he was arrested with a Louis Maria (966 27th St, Altoona, PA) for kidnapping and extorting a gambler, 45 year old Charles Fissel of Newry, PA. Iacovetti was living at 311 Wordsworth Ave, Altoona, PA.
In 1952, he was arrested for running a still in Glen Burnie, MD, just outside Baltimore. He was with Charles Covello, brother of Joseph “Demus” Covello, Gambino member. Iacovetti was living in Norwalk, CT and was a part of Frank Scalice’s crew.
By 1963, he was in Arthur Leo’s crew along with other CT Gambino figures. By the end of the 60s, he was living part of the year in Dania, FL and operated Roberto’s Italian Restaurant. He was also involved in crime in North Bay Village, FL.
He got pinched on a stolen securities case with Vinne Teresa.
In 1983, his address was identified as 189 Plattsville Rd, Trumbull, CT.
He passed in 1998. He was supposed to be really rich and was friends with Frank Sinatra.

It appears that most of the Gambino CT membership was under Domenico Arcuri by the early-mid 1960s. Iacovetti served under captain Alfred Eppolito.
Leo did have a huge of crew of about 30 guys. Notable names included Frank 'Frankie Moose' Moccardi, Francesco Rizzo, Anthony 'Tony Baker' Napolitano, Vincent Casablanca, Ralph 'Bones' Mosca, Alfonso Mosca, etc.

Re: Dave Iacovetti
I think he was under Jimmy Eppolito and later under Frank Piccolo. CT isn't my area of expertise however, so I'm not certain.
Re: Dave Iacovetti
He may have been made in Pittsburgh originally then transferred as he reportedly sponsored his relative Jack Verilla into the Family. We do have the example of John Misuraca of the Colombos sponsoring San Jose members but I suspect Verilla may have been with Pittsburgh at the time given he lived in Altoona.

Re: Dave Iacovetti
Do you know what year approximately he sponsored Verilla?
Re: Dave Iacovetti
Doesn't say but the report is from 1968. There was a made member in the Altoona / Johnstown area cooperating and the candidates are very slim but it seems to be someone who was either Sicilian or biased toward the Sicilian side.JoelTurner wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 11:56 am Do you know what year approximately he sponsored Verilla?
Here's the report which JCB first posted:
Iacovetti's Baltimore ties make sense given the deep historic connections between Baltimore and Pittsburgh first going back to Termini Imerese natives in the 1890s and later with the Calabrians.

Re: Dave Iacovetti
Iacovetti was born in NY and lived as a child and teenager close to Ozone Park, Queens. In the 1930s, the family moved to Altoona City, Pennsylvania. He may be interesting to do further research on because it appears he was one of the Mafia members (made in the 1950s) who wasn´t fully Italian. Mother´s name was Emily.
He had a bunch of skippers throughout his Mafia career. Arthur Leo is the earliest skipper I can trace him being with, then he was under Napolitano. At some point in the mid 1960s, Iacovetti was directly assaigned to Joe Biondo. When Biondo was demoted, he was put with Eppolito, then Patti, Piccolo, Zappi, Richichi, Joe Paterno, Eddie Lino. His last skipper may have been Peter Gotti, but I´m not sure. For a short time, Iacovetti was acting skipper for Patti.
If you guys are interested, you can watch his son talking about his father on this podcast. I haven´t watched it myself, but seems to be same old bull shit history repeated (Anastasia boss of Murder Inc, Carlo Gambino killed Anastasia etc, etc.)

Edit - No, Iacovetti was fully Italian.

According to JD Iacovetti was under Alfred 'Big Freddy' Eppolito who took over for John Robilotto. Additional crew members included Frank Bonino, James Eppolito, Ralph Eppolito, Peter Piacenti, Arnold Romano, Andrew Parillo, and James Androlini. Possible members included Salvatore Riccobono and Anthony Romano.
