Theory 1:
The first hypothesis is formulated around the revenge that the kingpin Raynald Desjardins maintains against the Rizzuto clan. Since December 2011, a dozen of his friends or associates, including his ex-brother-in-law Joe Di Maulo, have been victims of settling of scores suspected of having been sponsored by the Sicilian clan. At 69, Desjardins is intimately linked to the Calabrian mafia. During an initial release in 2021, investigators found him escorted by a bodyguard in possession of registration numbers linked to vehicles of members of the Rizzuto clan.
Theory 2:
The second hypothesis revolves around an attempt by Calabrian Vittorio Mirarchi to wipe the name of the Rizzutos off the map. Mirarchi was also the protege of Raynald Desjardins, but the strength of his support in the 'Ndrangheta in Ottawa and Toronto made him an extremely powerful criminal. He and Raynald Desjardins are now free after serving time in prison for planning the murder of would-be godfather Salvatore Montagna in 2011.
Theory 3:
For the time being, the leadership of the mafia is weakened, note our sources. Leonardo Rizzuto is challenged, while the other boss of the Sicilian clan, Stefano Sollecito, is very ill. But the option of not putting up any resistance would mean “sullying the name of the family”, they believe.

Funny little snippet from this article.
Moreover, the police world is not impressed by the degree of planning of the drive-by shooting style attack which almost cost the life of the mafia on Wednesday, on Highway 440, in Laval.

“Honestly, it's a job that was given to sub-contractors who weren't very experienced. It would have been easy to plan a better shot, ”says a police officer familiar with the events of the last few days.
Leaves the question of who planned it open ended .. could still be Italians since their number of reliable shooters diminishes .. or maybe someone tried to make it look like unexperienced rookies to cover.. anything on the table

I realize I copied and pasted the wrong thing in theory 3 which ill correct below.

Theory 3:
The third hypothesis evokes a blow that would come from former friends of Leonardo Rizzuto. "Over the past few weeks, there have been several meetings between different members of organized crime working together, but not everyone in the group respects Leonardo's leadership," said a source.

Wondering how the Rizzuto faction plans on responding to this attack. Seems like someone is definitely trying to send a huge message with this attack. This stuff really does never end in Montreal...

Interesting article, it basically says Leonardo isn’t respected and only was able to be in power because of Steve Sauce. But, now that Sollecito has stepped back due to his worsening health, Leonardo doesn’t have many allies left… and likely doesn’t have the resources to wage another war.

It also says that the other Italian groups in the city don’t respect his leadership, so they may be trying to push him out of the way to take control. Or, that it could be the bikers.

My guess is this was internal amongst the Italians, real greaseball shit. I bet some of the true street guys are trying to take control from the prince. The Ndrangheta doesn’t need to be involved for their to be yet another coup attempt in Montreal.

The article speculates that Leonardo may step back and retire, which would be a smart descision. But, I’m not holding my breath given his heritage and bloodlines. Montreal is some real life Game of Thrones shit, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Leonardo would rather be shot dead on a cold Laval street than to walk away from his empire, no matter how weakened his empire and power may be today.

I can’t imagine the trauma and ptsd his wife, kids, and relatives must have by this point.

Yea that family has been through it. Would be nice if one of them writes a book one day lol but doubt that will happen. It also blows my mind that with all the money this guy has and all the murder and mayhem he’s been through that he’s NOT in a bulletproof car. If I was him I wouldn’t leave my fuckin house if I wasn’t in a bulletproof car with a body guard…fuck that
That’s the guy, Adriana. My Uncle Tony. The guy I’m going to hell for.

I've wondered about their overall street presence ever since Whooley got shot at..... it's like... who's their muscle? That Davide Barberio? Well, he got shot at too...

My theory... either it's Miriarchi, or some new emerging coalition of convergent business interest between competing crime groups, trying to push them out.

Could it possibly be some component of the Hells Angels? If Dejardins is behind it... question then...
What would be his end game? He wants to..... run.... What exactly? Is it purely about the rackets?

Where did you get those numbers from? All those guys spend money like it’s water and always end up having to come back to the well. I doubt they have anywhere near 50m in the bank forget about 200.

Coogere - thats whay froggy and mario would call everyone. cug- like the sound of cugine plus the sound of "air:" Cugere!

Where do I get numbers from- probably the overly lnflated numbers I get from the stupid articles and press releases.. Also, if they supplied the H for 10 percent of america and invested it Venezuela, Italy etc they should have half a billion.uninterrupted 500 Kilo shipments? you know how much money that brings in. But then again, Im not an intl drug dealer, so I ventured a guess based on quick math. If theyve been at it for 30 yrs, the money has compounded. anyway, at 50 million with dividends etc they can cough up a mill per yr on top notch security
Q: What doesn't work when it's fixed?

But instead they have no security and are getting shot down in the street like dogs or while sitting in their kitchens having coffee with their wife.

They’re definitely not paupers but they also aren’t Pablo Escobar types with military level security.

The article states that the Montreal mafia consists of approximately 10 separate clans/cells/crews. Can anyone identify them?
