What is your favorite era of CN and why?
For myself, two eras:
1957-1963. The Space Age era. One of my favorite eras in history all around. The Jetsons era of the Mob.
1975-1985. Grimy, sleazy, Disco and cocaine fueled era of the mob. A time of increasing violence and the slow overthrow of the old order, ending with Castellano’s murder just before 1986 started. After that, and after the other Bosses are put away, things get a lot less interesting.

1980s Philadelphia because Scarfo is fascinating
Prohibition Chicago because it's insane
Disco era like you mentioned (Murder Machine)
Early 90s Philadelphia because it's like a cross between a Tarantino movie and a Three Stooges short

I like reading about the '90s, particularly early-to-mid. Intense law enforcement pressure, the beginning of demographic changes dismantling the mob's historic control over the neighborhoods, lots of desperation killings and panic within the ranks.

Love reading about Chicago during the 40s, 50s and 60s aka the Mob's Golden Era lol

Mid 80s after the old dons went away for life...the ushering in of the new leadership brought violence to nearly every family and made for a very interesting time...

I don't know if I have a favorite, but in terms of research and general "mob watching," I divide them into three timeframes -
1800's-1930
1930-2000
2000-present
Obviously 1930-2000 has the vast majority of information and is the timeframe most are familiar with. Not just people on this forum but the general public too. Once I got to the point where I felt I had gone over that period enough, I had a choice: go backward or forward. Going backward, obviously the information gets harder and harder to locate and analyze. So I went forward and have focused most on 2000-present for the last several years now.

1860's-1931, it's not confirmed and with a lot of theories making for great debates and finding new info is more rewarding imo

70's era Midwest; Chicago, KC, Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland, etc. Just seems very grimy and violent. Almost like the beginning of the end of a certain way of life.

I love reading about the period 1920-1970, specifically the 20's and 30's because of the Prohibition era. But I also really like the 50s.

1970-late 90s
Re: What is your favorite era of CN and why?
None of it is uninteresting but the 2000s leaves the most to be imagined.
