The Valachi Papiers
Men of Dishonor (Antonino Calderone)
Addio Cosa Nostra (Buscetta)
The Last Mafioso (Frattiano)
La Source (Andrea Scoppa)

All these books are obviously not perfect, but these are my favorite pentito's books

Every time he and Leonetti would have a conversation with someone of Sicilian ancestry, as soon as that person was out of ear shot, Scarfo would be warning Leonetti how the Sicilians weren’t to be trusted and that they were inherently greedy and backstabbing people. There must be 8-10 instances in the book where Scarfo goes on some kind of rant about Sicilians.
Yea I was surprised by that too. They need to make a movie about Scarfos rise and fall based on Leonettis book. Would be a classic with the right casting.
It would have to be a miniseries. There's too much to cover in two hours.

Yea that’s a good point…if done right I’d prefer a mini series now that I think about it.

Stephen Graham as Nicky Scarfo. At 5'5" he's even the right height. Watch this scene and you'll see what I mean -- he'd make a great Scarfo. This is him as Tony Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9TsMA46Eww
He would definitely nail it as Scarfo would love to see that.

Men of Honor by Tim Shawcross. This is investigative reporting of Buscetta that documents his duplicitousness and potential involvement in several murders, to cover his tracks, while in South America.

He turns 50 this year and will even be about the same age as Scarfo in his prime. We have to make this happen and soon!

Yeah lotta good storylines from 70s-80s Philly that could make a great series.

I’ve always thought a great opportunity for a mob series based on true life events would be something that basically follows the Bonannos from late 70s to 05. That would encompass the Galante/Rusty power struggle, the Pizza connection, the Galante murder, the 3 Captains murder, the Donnie Brasco infiltration, temporary suspension from the commission, Massino slowly rebuilding the family, Canada, Massino flipping.

Way too much for just a mini series, but if someone like HBO or Netflix committed to doing 4-5 seasons worth, there’s a lot to work with.

The problem is when they do a mini series or something like it they always throw in too many fake events. If they would just follow the TRUE story of what really happened it what make for much better entertainment IMO.

Yeah that’s why I thought the Bonnano’s story would work, because it wouldn’t need any of the extra stuff. There is so much already there. I feel like the difficulty with this particular story is that it unfolds over the course of like 25-30 years. It would have to be like a 4-5 season arc. I don’t think it would be as entertaining in just 1 or 2.
