It's interesting to see when guys from across the country end up in the same facility and have opportunities to build relationships, (even though by now the vast majority of members in prison are NY guys). It got me thinking about a couple of stories Scott reported on recently.

First thing is Patty Dellorusso making connections to Chicago in prison and following up after his release. When John Pennisi appeared on the OG Podcast to discuss Matteo Messina Denaro's arrest, they briefly discussed it and Pennisi confirmed he was aware of Dellorusso's relationship in Chicago and felt he'd end up getting indicted over it.

Secondly, Scott recently reported about relationships between Kansas City and Chicago and Kansas City and Philadelphia (specifically George Borgesi and some KC associates). Vincent Pisciotta being in Fort Dix would certainly provide the opportunity for at least a social relationship between KC and other families. A couple of years ago, Fort Dix contained the highest concentration of made guys in the entire federal prison system. While there weren't any Philly guys there at that time, somebody who was held there was Patsy Parrello, who knows and had met Borgesi, Merlino, and other Philly members.

I haven't tracked associates because it'd be quite a monumental undertaking, but I'd reckon there are probably quite a few other interesting connections across the country. After all, Philadelphia ended up with a Boston crew in the 1990s because Bobby Luisi knew someone who had been behind bars with Ralph Natale.

"LIFE" is for life in the federal system. There is no parole for inmates incarcerated for crimes committed after November 1, 1987, in accordance with the Federal Sentencing Reform Act.

The two most common reasons for a prisoner's early release:

1. Compassionate release, which must be granted by a judge
2. Early release for "good behavior." Inmates with little to no infractions while imprisoned can get months shaved off of their sentence and be released earlier than their initial sentencing.

A less common reason (at least from my observations) is a mistake in the calculation of sentencing guidelines which results in a re-calculation of the inmate's sentence. This may result in an adjustment of the inmate's release date but I admit that I'm no expert in this field.

And, of course, an inmate's sentence may be reduced or overturned based on appeal.

No parole in the federal system. You serve out your entire sentence unless released on compassionate grounds or your sentence is adjusted or overturned on appeal. For every 365 days of "good behavior," you get 54 days off your sentence. Obviously, this doesn't apply to life sentences (but could if that sentence is adjusted).
