Carmine and Allie Boy Persico

Post by Little_Al1991 »

Why is Allie Boy listed as the Acting Boss of the Colombo Family from 1996 until 2019 on Wikipedia? Maybe it seems like a minor thing because wiki can be full of discrepancies but clearly something like this has to be backed up but I have yet to see a factual source behind this? after his incarceration, did Allie Boy give out any orders?

Carmine Persico is listed as boss from 1973 until 2019 on wiki but we know he was boss since 1980.From 2010 up until 2019, did Persico give out any orders? Did he also know about the ongoings of the family?

It was mentioned in the Ralph DeLeo indictment. Carmine was Official Boss, Allie Boy was Acting Boss and DeLeo was the Street Boss. Despite his incarceration Little Allie Boy continued to function as the Boss by passing on orders while his father kept the title and DeLeo ran things on the street.

Thanks. That was a question that intrigued me.If Allie Boy was still giving orders after DeLeo’s time as Street Boss ran out then they should renamed this the Persico Family

Also mentioned in Russo detention hearing too, wherein Russo's attorneys noted the confusion over the term 'acting' or 'street' boss and prosecutors clarified that Allie retained the rank of acting boss after his arrest. Should be noted that Russo was far more involved with the family than his predecessor DeLeo; Russo decided administration members, organized induction ceremonies, handled disputes, etc., while DeLeo was essentially Allie's puppet.

Very interesting information.Allie Boy is the Acting Boss, i wonder if he can have any influence over who is the new Colombo boss and I say that because it doesn’t seem as if Allie Boy was involved with Russo’s reign as boss

Allie is Acting Boss but we still don’t know who’s running the family on the street

In all likelyhood Persico lost his status as Acting Boss once Russo became the Official Boss since, by definition, Russo outranked him.

I don't recall what the indictment said but Capeci still had Carmine Persico as the Official Boss when he died.

Weren't people thinking Teddy Jr or Rob D'Onofrio was gonna be the street boss?

It would seem that Russo took over as official after Persico's death. There was a meeting in a restaurant in Brooklyn in 2020 where it was decided that Russo would "continue to serve as family boss", and that then Teddy Persico would take over as boss after Russo and after he (Persico) got off supervised release.

Then in April 2021, Vincent Ricciardo told Andrew Koslosky that Teddy Persico had the authority to tell Benjamin Castellazzo what to do and had "the last word" in the family. The government has described Teddy Persico's status at that time as a captain without a crew. So despite Russo being the official boss, Teddy Persico was already the de facto boss. We also know by that point Russo's health was deteriorating as well as his memory.

Thanks Chin.
Leadership in the Colombos since the Third Colombo War seems to be a lot more ceremonial than other families. DeLeo's leadership is an obvious example, not to mention Carmine Sessa's puppet role as consigliere, Maragni performing roles as a 'captain' before his indictment, Michael Persico's high-level role in the family as an associate. Plus, Gioeli was essentially serving as "street boss" long before his formal promotion in '03/'04.

Not to mention Carmine Persico himself throughout Tom DiBella's time as official boss

The Colombo’s have lost 4 Capos as a result of indictments from 2019 through 2021.2019 they lost Joe Amato but in the major bust in 2021, they lost Vincent Ricciardi, Richard Ferrara and Theodore "Teddy" Persico Jr.
Pennisi has portrayed the Colombo’s as being a lot stronger than we thought but he has also said that he thinks a ruling panel is running the family until someone such as Joe Waverley can step up to run the family though he’s on supervised release until 2025.
