There has seemed to be a transition in more recent years from labor racketeering to business racketeering within the mob's construction interests.TommyNoto wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 6:18 am Gambinos still have major construction earners.
interesting how the mob has evolved into putting income on the books vs old days of off books/ cash so they don’t get hit with tax fraud charges.
Honest services charges vs Gambino street boss lol, my have times changed. The Feds likely struggling to find charges that stick on today’s mob. They seemed to have found the sweet spot of being mostly legit construction cash cows without looking facing major time. Even if they go down, they ain’t doing major time.
Article supports idea that construction is still a major money maker, they are more legit than 30 years ago and are unlikely to do any serious time. Great life for some of the guys today.

There’s zero buffalo mob. At least that this guys running.
Who’s going to jeopardize that multi mill op for some light gambling envelopes followed by a Fed RICO.
Nah, this guy is a pizza bar owner. Not a mob boss.
Previously Mannino was underboss and Paradiso consigliere. So, unless they traded roles like Gravano/Locascio, it seems possible things might have changed due to Paradiso's health and he's not in the administration anymore. Though why Mannino would change positions isn't clear.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 11:31 amParadiso?don-shunter wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:13 am Has it been outed who the Gambino underboss is seeing as Mannino is the consigliere and Cefalu is boss?
It makes sense Cefalu is official boss. With Acquista being captain over the crew Cefalu ran, it hasn't appeared for a while now that it was a situation of Cefalu being captain/acting boss.

This raises an interesting question about whether Mannino has held the consigliere position in two non-consecutive periods. Wasn't there a policy in at least one family that a member could only hold the rank of consigliere once? I can't remember the exact details. In his first interview with Tom LaVecchia, John Pennisi mentioned meeting Mannino shortly after his (Pennisi's) induction in 2013 and describes Mannino as a Gambino captain who had recently or shortly afterwards was promoted to an acting administration position. In subsequent interviews and podcasts, Pennisi has since talked about how he thinks Mannino was consigliere during his time on the street as a member. Perhaps Mannino was only acting consigliere prior to Paradiso and is now back in the position in an official capacity.

Scarpa told the FBI consigliere was a one time only position. He used the example of Joe Yacovelli who stepped down and was still operating as a defacto Family leader but couldn't become consigliere again due to the rule.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 5:08 pm This raises an interesting question about whether Mannino has held the consigliere position in two non-consecutive periods. Going down for a 154k SBA loan.
Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
Capeci reported that Mannino was the consigliere at the time when Pennisi and the Luccheses went to find out Gotti Jr's status. Also, Pennisi mentioned on an old MBA and button man episode that the Gambinos straightened out an associate the Luccheses were claiming and Mannino was the guy that solved the issue which made him believe that he was indeed consigliere.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 5:08 pm This raises an interesting question about whether Mannino has held the consigliere position in two non-consecutive periods. He could've been acting because it also looks like he kept his captain position then once Vernace died in 2017 he became the official consigliere. We also have Felice's sources that had Cali and Mannino the wrong way around but said he was serving as the street boss."The first thing we did," before coming up with a detailed plan to assault the former acting mob boss, said Pennisi, was get permission to do so from Lorenzo Mannino, who was then the Gambino family's consigliere, and now its underboss, according to most mob watchers.

OK so did he actually go search through all your old posts with the word "Buffalo" until he found one like that, or did he bookmark it years ago so he could deploy it if necessary, or what?SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 3:14 pmWiseguy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 2:47 pmSonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2019 8:34 pm Seeing JT actually makes me jump ship.

He sits outside of Sonny's house in a decrepit 1970's blackened out van full of cheese sandwiches in a wifebeater and jockstrap taking pictures of Sonny and grunting.

Its funny how they call Al Grecco just a bookmaker. He was linked to at least a half dozen murders. One in which he put an ice pick thru a guys ear into his brain. He was more of a hitman and enforcer then a bookmaker.

Yeah I caught that too and found it strange. I don't know much about the NJ Genovese but his name is one that really stands out to me and I instantly connect with violence. A quick glance at the headline and a few lines under it, make it sound like an old elderly bookie was locked up for 1/3rd of his life. He was a gangster through and through. Didn't he throw a guy off a building too? Or am I thinking of someone else lol
