He was never a member of the Genovese but they had protected him possibly contributing to that idea

In Chin Gigante's files, there is a redacted name who is said to have taken over for Carfagno.

The amount of letters perfectly fits "Harry Lanza". "Jimmy Angelina" is a bit too long. Unless there is someone else who may have taken over for Carfagno, looks like Harry took it over.

Also, this was in 1968. Jimmy Angelina died in 1967. It states "Capodecina", not former.

Interesting factoid about David Petillo in Chicago. The prostitute Nancy Presser, who was interviewed by Thomas Dewey's team when he was prosecuting Lucky Luciano, confirmed his reputation there as a killer: https://books.google.com/books?id=Tz03q ... ia&f=false

Interesting. Makes one wonder if Petillo had been assigned to Capone’s decina during that time.

Here's a member: Joseph Parlavecchio

- Mafia Membership Charts list him as a Genovese member

- This document (https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.htm ... lPageId=12) erroneously lists him as a Philadelphia member along with Carmine Battaglia and Thomas Campisi.

--------

This was his info:

Occupation: Supervisor - City maintenance; Newark Board of Education

That´s interesting! I remember reading that sometime directly after the Carfano hit, Harry Lanza was surveilled by LE and was seen visiting high ranking members of the Genovese Family in a social club in the Little Italy section of Manhattan. Perhaps he was summoned to be told that he was now a caporegime? I wonder why his name was redacted though. He died in the 1970s.

Harry Lanza had legal troubles, starting in or around 1958, after refusing to answer questions relating to a talk he had with his infamous imprisoned brother concerning suspicion of corruption. He was granted immunity from prosecution but still refused to answer any questions. He was sentenced to 10 years, but only served a year or two. My point is that he must have had an acting skipper running the crew for him during this time because his legal troubles continued into the early 1960s.
There you have it, never printed before.

Anthony Carfano lived in Florida for several years before his murder

He likely would have had someone on the ground helping him run his crew in NYC. I wonder if that contributed to this confusion.

In 1959 Generoso Del Duca and several of his men were arrested at the Concord Restaurant, 203 Bridge St in Brooklyn. The place was described as a 'regular meeting place' for Del Duca's men.

Camillo Parisi (44y), Matthew Principe (50y), and Ralph Ferraro (55y) were arrested. They are all believed to be Genovese soldiers. If Principe was a member of the Del Duca crew, what is the source for him being moved under Anthony Carillo?

That was my mistake. I put him there when I was making the updated lists. Good catch!

A bonus is that we can put Ralph Ferraro with the old Del Duca crew

Misc Info:

1) Benedetto 'Benny' Coniglio was likely under captain Mike Coppola. Born in 1916, later listed as a member in Benny Lombardo's crew (check the post 'Philip Lombardo' done by HarryKnuckles'). It seems more likely he was made in the late 50s than in his early 60s. Not mentioned in JD's 1970s Genovese inductions either.

2) It seems pretty likely that Harry Lanza took over Carfano's crew. The number of characters of the redacted name said to have succeeded Carfano fits perfectly. Furthermore, I remember a while back while I was researching Toddo Marino that he was described as a lieutenant for Anthony Carfano. Lanza was demoted in the 70s and replaced by Marino so it seem possible that Marino was under Carfano, then Lanza, then was promoted.

https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.htm ... 0MARINO%22

In this link Marino is described as a lieutenant for Carfano in 1946.

3) Matthew 'Jerry' Billiteri is listed in the FBI Dead list as a soldier. He was born in 1921 and died in 1971, which means he was inducted pre-1958.

4) Re-Carmine Russo: Bill Feather mentions a Carmine Russo as a soldier. This Russo is interesting in that the fact that he was the brother of Frank, another soldier. Frank was a guy later probably under Toddo Marino. Marino's crew was formerly headed by the Lanza brothers, and included associate Carmine Romano. Russo is mentioned as being a relative to Socks and Harry Lanza, and also associated with them in Fulton Fish Market Rackets. Russo was also the uncle of Carmine Romano. Seems likely that he was maybe a soldier under Harry Lanza, along with his brother Frank.

One of Carmine Bove's aliases was Thomas Russo. Is it possible that Carmine Russo and Carmine Bove are the same people? They are listed as having been born in the same year.

I am also confused re the Brooklyn crews. If Tieri broke off from Miranda c1957, Harry Lanza succeeded Carfano, who took over Del Duca's crew? Is it possible that Del Duca's crew was fused with Lanza's, and then Pasquale Del Duca was Lanza's acting capo in the early 1960s (mentioned by HairyKnuckles a few posts above that Lanza likely had a acting captain due to legal troubles). Pasquale is listed as a captain if you search "Pasquale Del Ducca" in MF. Maybe Saro Mogavero received a portion of the large crew in 1964?
