Best books on 90s mob activity

Post by AnIrishGuy »

Hi guys

I've been through a fair few mob books covering the 90s into the 2000s

Capeci's book with Al D'Arco, Mob Boss
Andrew DiDonato's book, Surviving the Mob
Mob Star
The Good Rat
Mafia Prince
Gotti's Rules
Jack Falcone's book

etc. etc.

Wondering if anyone here could suggest any other books worth some attention?

Cheers in advance

King of the Godfathers (about Joe Massino) and then Vinny Gorgeous by Anthony DeStefano, read them in that order.

The Goodfellas Tapes and The Last Gangster for Philly. Made Men for the DeCavalcante family.

Lol that was some funny shit when he was at that high school reunion with only legit people introducing themselves and he just got up and said: "You all know me I'm a hoodlum and a gangster. I've been a bookmaker. Yeah, I never changed"

I second Goodfella Tapes. It's one of those books you just can't put down. Some of the shit the guys say on the wiretaps is way better than the best Sopranos dialogue and much of the story is like a cross between a Tarantino movie and a Three Stooges short.

Made Men is excellent. Five Families is, in my opinion, the greatest book ever written about the mob.

Ray Liotta was supposed to do a documentary series based of the book before he passed. It was greenlit in March. Hopefully, it'll still go through:

most all listed are 70s and 80s; 90s would be Kenji Gallo; remember, not when published, but years of activity

Definitely the massino book the last Don or last boss or something like that. DeStefano wrote it . Great book kinda got me into the mafia true crime shit. He basically details Sal Vitale and afew others whole scope of massinos rise as boss from 1991

Massino 91 to 01 might be the modern days greatest runs as boss but that could be bullsit because there's 2 bosses sitting today that both had 10yr runs in the Gambino and genovese family who probably always topped the bonannos even at massinos peak
