I agree. They were like Nicky Scarfo. Kill crazy.

Re: They should have
Scarfo's murderousness is overstated IMHO.
He was a meanie but he wasn't DeMeo/Gaspipe level psycho. More like an already violent guy who inherited a family that was about to explode anyway. Testa, Stanfa, and Merlino were just as trigger-happy.

I wonder Caramandi is up to these days, or even if he's still alive? Heard he ended up in a trailer park in North Carolina.

Re: They should have
This is what makes Vic an interesting guy, it’s the fact that the narrative surrounding him is distorted which leads me to wonder what is the true story with Vic.
For years, on these forums people have been discrediting him but the fact is that Amuso is the official boss and not in name. He’s been the boss since 1986, he still has the authority.Pennisi says he’s still well respected.
If he was as bad as the forums portray him then he surely wouldn’t be the boss now
I’m not saying he was a great boss because he wasn’t but it’s just the fact that the narrative surrounding him is distorted

Only Casso. That in Raab's 5 families isxwrite that as the work on his house was costing too much, he tortured and killed his architect.
Amuso problem is that he listened too much to Casso, and his paranoia led to the murders and bad decisions that led to the downfall of both.
When Amuso understood this and shelved Casso, was too late.
Re: They should have
the best move for Casso would;ve been to kill Vic Amuso. ppl wouldve fallen into line out of fear

He'd be 87 if still alive. If he died in the WPP we night not hear about it although we did get word when Larry Merlino and George Frselone died. If Caramandi died I'm sure Anastasia would have heard about through some channel. Was it ever confirmed that Tommy DelGiorno died? I forgot.

Re: They should have
I've said it before but up until Casso went on the run at least, they were just doing what any other bosses would have done . There were a lot of guys hiding money, not checking in, trying to make power plays, and doing whatever they wanted. A lot of the families were kind of a mess after the Commission Case and the transition between the pre-appalachin (sp?) era guys, and the guys who came of age when the books were closed. They inherited a big operation that was scattered all over the place and had to get things in line. Anyone who didn't want to follow suit was clipped. It was when the windows case was heating up and indictments came down that Casso started putting false rat wires on guys, they did things like clipping Boriello, making plans to possibly clip Gotti Junior, etc.

That was some fresh street guy who showed up, made a batch of posts, and never appeared again. Never heard it from any other source.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 9:52 am Was it ever confirmed that Tommy DelGiorno died? I forgot.
Not hard to believe, though, Del didn't exactly live the healthiest lifestyle.

Re: They should have
I saw on Facebook that someone who was in contact and friendly with George Anastasia messaged him and asked him if Crow was still around. George said yes but he keeps it really low key these days (may not have been verbatim). This conversation took place this year or last if memory serves.

Re: They should have
The problem with these bosses who were murderous is that it gives authors/journalists license to say whatever they want about the motives or circumstance.
For example, you'll see people say Scarfo killed Testa out of jealousy, paranoia, etc. but Caramandi said the Philly-based guys were in Scarfo's ear for a long time trying to convince him to kill Testa. He specifically said Faffy Iannarella finally "buried" Testa at one of these meetings and convinced Scarfo to order the hit.
People downplay the amount of treachery taking place in Philadelphia proper while Scarfo was in prison, South Jersey, and Florida. He was a killer who liked to set examples, no question, but there is a lot of nuance to what was going on under him.
Same is true for Toto Riina. Doesn't change the responsibility these guys have for taking human lives, it's just about accurately understanding what was going on.
