Joe Violi’s statement somewhat echoes what his father (Paolo Violi) was caught saying to Rusty Rastelli in the early 1970s.OcSleeper wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 6:49 pmJoe Violi seemed to think the Bonannos didn't come to Canada often and I'm sure 10 years was an exaggeration but it's possible late 2015 was the last visit. So with that in mind I wonder if it was Zancocchio or Zummo that made the introductions.
I am correct that the "John" that attended the ceremony was Zancocchio right? I remember reading/hearing it but can't remember where to confirm it.

Re: Project Otremens Recordings
Vincenzo Morena (CW-1 in Project OTremens trial transcripts and Canadian news articles) was not a member CI. A number of posters on various forums have made this error. He was a paid RCMP agent whose reliability had to be repeatedly assessed by the RCMP as though he were a cooperating informant. The RCMP stratagem to get Morena inducted into the Bonanno Family and to record his own induction ceremony was artifice that resulted in artificial situations, interactions, and conversations. His recording of his induction, once discovered by the Bonanno Family, would be the reason for the Family’s immediate nullification of his Bonanno membership. The RCMP’s and Morena’s mileage may vary.B. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 5:44 pm [snip]
It's amazing what a few snippets from a member CI's cooperation can reveal about Canada. It opens many new questions but shows international Cosa Nostra formalities are still a factor in their politics / relationships despite outsiders making their best guesses.
I wish we knew why the RCMP didn’t get Morena to tape Dom Violi’s induction into the Buffalo Family in January 2015. Then Violi’s induction would have been nullified by that family.

In the 2000s, Agostino Cuntrera was still in touch with his Caruana-Cuntrera relatives in York Region, which is immediately north of Toronto.CabriniGreen wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 8:29 pmI like how she breaks down certain conflicts. The full chart of some of the relationships between groups.
On a side note it's interesting considering what little we know about Andrea Scoppa's official affiliation that the Scoppa group is described as "Calabrian origin but no affiliation".
I've even come to wonder how the Caruanas felt about Vitos relationship with the Colluccios. Maybe it was all good... maybe not.
Giuseppe Cuntrera (“Big Joe”) and Giuseppe Coluccio had opened a business together in the Greater Toronto Area before the latter’s deportation in August 2008. Cuntrera was on a list of individuals with whom a beleaguered Coluccio — he fled to Canada from Italy because of legal troubles — was said to have criminal ties while here in Canada. Recall that when Coluccio secretively fled here, he travelled first to Quebec before making his way to Ontario. Did Agostino Cuntrera help shield him in Quebec and then shepherd him to the GTA?
In Italy, the longstanding relationship between the Caruana-Cuntrera group and the ‘ndrangheta has always been a solid one.
Vito Rizzuto and Angelino Figliomeni were two of the principal players in Platinum Sportsbook, as were particular Hells in Ontario (Billy Miller, Rob Barletta). Figliomeni was in on it from the beginning. Did Rizzuto know or care about the Figliomenis butting heads with the Coluccios? And then there’s the fact that Carmelo Bruzzese, the father-in-law of Giuseppe Coluccio’s brother Antonio, appeared to have easy access to Rizzuto and Francesco Arcadi — remember when Bruzzese was charged in Italy with being a member of Cosa Nostra by virtue of his ties to the Rizzuto organization?
In Canada at least, if crime group A is friendly with crime group B, and B is friendly with crime group C, it does not follow that A is friendly with C.

Morena wasn't inducted until months after Violi so would not have been elligible to attend Violi's ceremony. Also has it been stated anywhere that the Bonanno family nullified Morena's membership after it was revealed he was cooperating? I don't recall reading that before.

Re: Project Otremens Recordings
Put the information from the Otremens conversations in the article in chronological order based on the footnotes.
2/11/2015:
Giuseppe Violi stated that Cece Luppino was asked if he wanted to be inducted
Cece Luppino told his father (Rocco Luppino) that he would if he could make money, but if there’s no money then he doesn’t want to be a member because it brings too many headaches
Cece Luppino watched his father struggle for 30 years and doesn’t want to
3/18/2015:
Giuseppe Violi stated that he met and liked the new president of the bikers, and they could work together
The president said he knew how Violi’s crew worked and they made them (the bikers) look like the bad guys and Violi’s crew the good guys
5/6/2015:
Vincenzo Morena discussed the prospect of Giuseppe Violi joining the Bonanno family, but Violi was not keen on it
“Would only see them once every ten years… if you are never going to see these people what’s the point of being with them?”
10/9/2015:
“They talked about the organization rules not to be involved in drugs but that everyone is doing it”
Domenico Violi stated drugs are “the only place with any money in it”
1/6/2016:
Giuseppe Violi did not know if the Cuntreras were looking to kill someone in Toronto through the Musitanos
Morena asked Violi who gave the Musitanos approval for the murder, and Violi thought it might have been Joseph Todaro
Morena did not think Todaro would kill “made” guys without permission from New York
5/13/2016:
Giuseppe Violi told Morena that Natale Luppino gave him a speech not to be involved in drugs
“Don’t do that (drugs), do anything just not that and if you do don’t come here”
9/7/2016:
“The guys in Montreal… when they figure out their own mess over there”
11/23/2016:
Morena stated that Todaro told Natale Luppino that he (Todaro) did not recognise Giuseppe and Paolo Cuntrera as inducted members
12/6/2016:
Domenico Violi said he learned that New York called Todaro to come and be part of the commission
12/7/2016:
Rocco Luppino agreed that Giuseppe and Paolo Cuntrera should not be recognised as members and “who knew if they were even made in Italy”
A “high ranking member” of the Bonanno family had introduced Giuseppe and Paolo Cuntrera as “friends of ours”
6/18/2017:
Morena did not believe they would be able to make the case against [Massimigliano?] Carfagna disappear
Violi did not want to pay the judge $200,000 to get Carfagna three years
For $200,000, Carfagna shouldn’t have to do any prison time
6/30/2017:
Domenico Violi stated that Todaro was right and should have been told that Albert Iavarone and A [Antonio?] Caputo had been inducted “allegedly” by the Gambino family in California because “it was in Todaros’ area”
9/26/2017:
Domenico Violi discussed the news that Cosimo Commisso was providing intelligence to the CFSEU about the alliance between the Cuntrera-Caruana family and the Musitanos
Violi was trying to figure out what was happening with that and the last time he saw Commisso
11/1/2017:
Domenico Violi told Morena that he (Violi) had been “promoted” to underboss of the Buffalo family
In his new position, Violi is considering the affiliation of his brother Giuseppe and the need to communicate the “new order” to everyone properly
Domenico Violi repeated that Todaro spoke to him and said to let him (Todaro) tell Rocco and Natale Luppino
Morena agreed that if Violi told the Luppinos himself it would be wrong
Violi stated he had actually first told Todaro that he (Violi) would not tell them, and this then prompted Todaro to say he would
It would also be appropriate to inform Montreal
Morena asked if Violi met with representatives of the Colombo or Gambino families in Florida
Violi stated they were there but he did not meet them right away, which is why Todaro wanted him (Violi) to go to New York and meet them the right way
Violi and Morena agreed “the big guys will sort this out” in Buffalo and New York
Violi stated “everyone works together nowadays and the old walls are gone
2/11/2015:

Re: Project Otremens Recordings
Which Paolo Cuntrera is it? The only Paolo I visualize is the brother of Pasquale/Gaspare/Liborio, and I don't remember any of their sons being called Paolo.
EDIT : Nevermind it's probably Gaspare's son or grandson born in 1990. I guess Giuseppe Cuntrera is "Little Joe", Paolo's son born in 1962 ?

That’s the guy, Adriana. My Uncle Tony. The guy I’m going to hell for.

When it comes to you, I myself have to assume I’m joking. Seriously though, sometimes life comes full circle and Bs comment above proves reality is now stranger then fiction in the world of the mobWiseguy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:18 pmI can only assume you're joking. The sad part is, there probably are people on here who think the LA or Tampa families still exist. That's when you know people have lost their collective shit and we've gone full circle back to the Real Deal forum circa 2006.

Speak for yourself. I myself I'm not buying into the forum hype. We have been though this countless times over the years and it always ends up one way.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
Re: Project Otremens Recordings
Yup. There's little, if anything, in the above info that is new and hasn't been addressed ad nauseum. Not sure why people are acting like there is other than some seem to have selective amnesia whenever this subject comes up.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 11:16 amAntComello wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 10:47 am No way anyone can deny the buffalo mobs existence anymore

Like I said, there's people here who follow the mob regularly, have a decent grasp on the subject overall, but are just lost when it comes to the current landscape of things. It really is bizarre.
Truth will cut it's own way. Time will prove this Buffalo mob still existing horseshit a fantasy just like it did with the Detroit.
All roads lead to New York.
Re: Project Otremens Recordings
Keep your Buffalo argument out of here. This was made specifically to discuss the new recordings shared in Sergi's article and to get away from that bullshit that you guys insist on continuing every week in the other thread.
