Just for the record, Drucci wasn’t Sicilian and I’ve never seen anything suggesting that he himself had any formal affiliation with the mafia.

Given that Drucci was from the Northside he would’ve presumably known many Sicilians, at least. There was a small but highly influential contingent of Central/Northern Italians on the Northside (mainly Genovesi and Toscani); the main Sicilian Parish Church, San Filippo Benizi, was founded and staffed by Genovesi, for example. They were greatly outnumbered by the Sicilians, of course, but their community was old and there were some that had close ties to the Sicilian community and the mafia. Good examples were guys like Bernie Barasa (Toscano; “Unione” President during the 1920s) and the Sbarbaro-Bacigalupo family (Genovesi).The Sbarbaros’ funeral home held the funerals for not just Dean O’Bannion and Drucci, but also Mike Merlo; Tony Sbarbaro also married Marie LoGalbo Morici, who was Bagherese and most likely from a mafia connected family. His brother, Judge Giovanni “John” Sbarbaro, was close to Barasa and fellow “Unione” President (and I believe very likely a mafioso) Constantino Vitello, as well as the notoriously corrupt and mafia-connected Cook County States Attorney Robert Crowe (who schmoozed with guys like Esposito and the Gennas). Later, there was even a Northside crew member who was Toscano: “Larry Da Hood” Buonaguidi (aka “Larry Bradi”).

All that is to say that there were some close and longstanding ties between Northerners and Sicilians on the Northside and it actually wouldn’t at all shock me if something turned up one day that indicated that Drucci had connections to the mafia (just that I’ve never seen anything myself to support that he did).

Hahaha don't worry it was nothing sick. I was wondering if Wikipedia had decent coverage of the North Siders (it actually does, for Wikipedia anyway) and the article for Drucci mentions it. I was like "that has to be Wiki bullshit" but I researched and nope, IT'S REAL.

Apparently the movie is just him going around banging flappers, which is cool I guess. A vintage slice of life from the 1920s.
