Westies

Post by JakeTheSnake630 »

What do we know about the current day Westies? I know Hells Kitchen is totally different these days so they may not be based there anymore, but Im sure there is an Irish crew operating in NYC. Does Jimmy Coonan still hold any weight on the outside? Is Mickey Featherstone still out there in Witsec?
If nobody sees it, it didn't happen.

The Westies are long gone. About a decade ago there was a guy supposedly related to a Westies member (John Bokun) who was busted for drugs. Around that same time, another guy (Daniel Hanley) was charged with loansharking and alleged by a witness in the case to be a Westies member. Personally, I think that was a stretch and what we're looking at is more a case of some individuals having loose ties involved in crime than any modern day continuation of the gang from years ago.

Were either of these guys Gambino associates?

Hanley was busted with a Gambino associate (James Ferrara) and a member of the Demon Knights MC (Peter Kanakis).

I ran across this article. Brian Bentley was confirmed to be a Westies member in the early 90s. Looks like his brother was also a member. This article is from 2002

From the article; “The duo, described by cops as Westie gang wannabes, would literally carry the safes out of the shops to a waiting getaway car.“

Yes I saw that. Here is an article from 1993 that says Brian Bentley was identified as a Westies members by law enforcement.
