DeMeo crew hits list

Post by Ivan »

Anyone have such a list?

Also, has a complete list of the 75 homicides that were cleared by the NYPD by attributing them to the crew ever been made available? I've only seen like 30 people total listed (such as in the index to Murder Machine).

The fbi files of Roy demeo are impossible to get they refuse to release it, their are some conspiracy theories it's because demeo cut a deal with the Feds or bc they didn't warn him about a known hit have any of you guys ever heard of these theories?

Thanks for the list Wiseguy.

Phatmattress I don't know anything about that. I wouldn't be shocked if Roy were cooperating though, especially after that business with that tape recorder in his car that his killers took.

Also in Murder Machine you know how the law enforcement guys say they wouldn't have cut a deal with Roy anyway because he had killed too often... does anyone actually believe that? If he had given up Castellano, they would have gladly accepted him, and he would have done like five years and then been stuck out in the Midwest somewhere, high body count notwithstanding.

Demeo wasn't true LCN, he was an independent racketeer who happened to be Italian and eventually formed a business relationship with Gaggi who gave him his button. Even when he was made him and his crew still kept to themselves. I doubt he would have any qualms on ratting if he got put in the situation.

Btw, was Vito Borelli made or an associate? Why would Castellano kill his daughter's boyfriend just for making a remark about him? I can somewhat understand if he's made because then he's being insubordinate, but if he isn't involved then what scumbag Castellano is.

everything you said here was false pretty much... Even Sammy the bull and demeo were close...borelli couldn't be made because in the early 70s he took the exam to be a state cop. No one gave demeo his button he was a top earner and true work horse.

Frank Amato was whacked for beating Castellano's daughter (he was her husband). I think she suffered a miscarriage if my memory is correct. If he wanted to commit suicide, pills are a lot easier.

Phatmattress

I meant Vito Borelli not Henry Borelli.

And when I said I said Demeo wasn't true LCN I was I was getting at how he didn't grow up in a mob neighborhood nor did he know many wiseguys until he met Gaggi. He also didn't seem too close with other mobsters, after he got made he occasionally went to Castellano's club but he socially he just seemed to stick with the Gemini lounge which was an ethnic mix. Im just saying that it wouldn't shock me if he became a CI.

DeMeo was from Bath Beach. It was a mob neighborhood. Bath Avenue, Cropsey Lounge, Spero's club, the Esplanade, George DeCicco's club...all are/were in Bath Beach. There was even an old timer called Johnny Bath Beach.

No,DeMeo was actually from Flatlands in Brooklyn.nonetheless that neighbourhood was next to Canarsie, whis was allways mob connected. The Vario crew,The Bamboo loung,etc..Ring a bell?DeMeo started his criminal carear at 17 and was connected to The lucchese's up until 1966 when he came to work for Nino Gaggi. He was a tremdeous earner and had a very capable crew(killing, drug dealing, cara, etc). He got his botton at 34,that is kind of young to get made considering he was neapolitan and with no particular familly connections.A veruly smart person, never spent time in jail and acctually finished high school. My opinion is that the crazy guys in his crew messed up what he had hoing and in some way got him killed..They were some crazy idiotic guys, very young.
Demeo was feard in all of NY.When the westies killed ruby stain Demeo and Gaggi got a whole lot of money from ruby's shy book..And there was a lot of money there..
Of course non of this does overshadow the fact he was a mad dog crazy killer,so i guess he got what he desereved..Oh yeah, and to say that he was friends and worked with Casso(did him a favor by killing somebody),Sammy bull,John Gotti just to name a few..Robert DB,etc...

But that didn't mean he wasn't "true LCN." And how you described the situation with him probably applied to many made guys.

One thing that I do remember reading in Murder Machine was, after he got made, Gaggi told him he couldn't rise any higher because only Sicilians could be captains or higher in the family. I'm not sure if that was the case but DeMeo said he was happy with what he got.
All roads lead to New York.

Alright my bad, guess my info on DeMeo was wrong. But in fairness, wasn't Castellano reluctanct on giving DeMeo his button? I remember reading that Gaggi tried to telling DeMeo that there were benefits to just being an associate rather than a made guy.
