Bonanno 1960s chart

Having trouble with Smitty D'Angelo's lineage.

His parents were Luigi/Louis D'Angelo and Angelina Scandalino. I haven't been able to track down where they are from.

Luigi was born 6/21/1884, and died 9/15/1938. Angelina was born 4/24/1888, and died on 3/14/1982.

On the 1910 census, Louis and his first two children lived at 221 Johnson Ave in Williamsburg. The immigration year is listed as 1905. By 1920, they lived on Graham Ave, where they both listed their immigration years as 1901, and naturalization years as 1917. For some reason, Louis' wife is listed as Francesca, but all the children match up.

Louis' parents were Girolamo D'Angelo and Angelina Sanzone. Angelina's mother was also named Angelina, and looks to have been born in 1865.

I kept forgetting to follow up on that. There is a family tree on Ancestry that looks like Catherine was Sonny Black's aunt, but I'm not 100%. The name and age match with Sonny Black's father Sam Napolitano. I just can't find his parents marriage record to confirm. There is a marriage ceritificate for a Sam Napolitano, but the parents listed don't seem to match and neither does the spouse name match Sonny Black's mother.

Interesting side note: Vincent D'Anna was a witness to John Aquaro's marriage.

When I tried digging into Sonny Black I found a possible relation to some Franzeses. The Colombo ones were also in that neighborhood. Couldn't confirm there was any direct connection between Sonny Black and Sonny Franzese but the Napolitano and Franzese/Francese names were interrelated in NYC for sure.

Santantonio said that he lived at 221 27th St, located in the very western edge of Brooklyn in 1963. In the early 1970s, there was a Salvatore Puma listed as a deceased member who lived at 890 Crescent Street, which is near the neighborhood of East New York, and about 8 miles away from the first address. I'd think they refer to the same guy but haven't found anything for sure.

In the early 1970s, there was a Salvatore Puma listed as a deceased member who lived at 890 Crescent Street, which is near the neighborhood of East New York, and about 8 miles away from the first address. I'd think they refer to the same guy but haven't found anything for sure.

Accidentally wrote Street instead of Ave. Makes sense they would be in this area near other known Bonanno members.

Both Joseph and Salvatore's father Carmelo was from Racalmuto, Agrigento. Haven't found where the mother was from yet.

Joseph Genovese listed his birthplace on his draft card as Campobello, in the southern part of Trapani. His son Gregory stated that he was born in Castellammare del Golfo, where the rest of the family was from. I'd think it was CDG, but it's interesting he noted it as Campobello on here. I'm trying to track down anything else that states his place of birth.



Interesting side note, his witnesses to his wedding were Michael and Rose Allegato nee Bonventre, who's father was the Vito Bonventre killed in 1931.

Huh yeah, that'd be news if he was from Campobello di Mazara. Nash found there was older interrelation between the Genoveses and prominent Castellammarese mafia clas so there does seem to be a background in CDG.

When Joseph's father Gregorio arrived in the US in 1907, he listed his last place of residence as Campobello and his birthplace as CDG. Joseph was born in 1906, so it looks more possible he was born there.

This already be known, as I see it in Nash's chart but Joseph isn't there, but Gregorio's wife Brigida DiSalvo was the sister of Vito Bonventre's wife, the one who was killed.

They might be referring to "Nicky" Marangello, and the FBI heard and wrote it down wrong. He lived in the Bronx, so Eboli may have misstated where he was from.

Edit: Marangello was born in East Harlem, and lived there till the 1940s when he moved to the Bronx. Not sure if maybe that's what they were referring to.
