Extortion 2022

Post by Gabagool718 »

2022 American LCN doesn't murder people anymore so how is it that the are able to extort business's, demand tribute, or even collect debts without the threat of real violence? why wouldn’t a guy into them for money just basically tell them to go fuck themselves?

The last mob murder was in 2013 which was an anomaly looking at the past 20 years and it resulted in the entire admin of the family going to prison for life, it’s pretty common knowledge that LCN does not kill anymore.

"You can’t put pressure on these people because they run to the law. They run to the law. And then, you know what, it’s a lot cheaper to fucking, take a fucking hit for a few thousand then it is to pay a fucking lawyer. Because that’s what’s gonna happen. The minute you squeeze ‘em a little bit they run to the law. They run to the fucking law immediately. Immediately. Immediately . . . What the fuck is there? Everybody runs to the law. Everybody’s a fucking rat. Everybody, they’re fucking horrible." - Bonanno member Jack Bonventre

No its not common knowledge. Murder conspiracies are ongoing to this day. They are just not as plentiful like they were. There was just a Gambino mob associate killed. Zottola killed by his son. Both revolving around mob enterprises and rackets, even if not ordered by any admin. Admin just doesnt want to go down if someone flips. LCN is still very capable and willing to commit murder if needed. And thats why extortion still works. History. Reputation. Possibility of Violence. Plenty of murders right in Canada which is LCN as well.

Most extortion victims are either shady people or criminals themselves what are they gonna do go to the cops? Not to mention some of these shady people pay the money to avoid any problems whether be actual violence or hindeences in their respective ventures like gambling, construct etc

It’s also a lot easier said than done telling hardened criminals to fuck off? As someone who’s been around his fair share of shady people they won’t kill you but why risk getting stabbed or fucked up by some crazy fuck

I. Sure there's plenty of extortion going on. They just mask it better. Make a victim feel like there not even getting extorted

Figured if the mob wanted to really put the fear of god into people they would just make victims quietly disappear forever, like what happened with Ralph Coppola. Not sure if this is logistically possible in this day and age though.

There are too many snitches, and forensic science is too advanced for that.

Regarding the murder threat. It just isn't a real option for the mob anymore. The proof is in the facts. People aren't getting killed, plain and simple. Anyone who argues that point is missing the facts. However, the threat of having your ass handed to you is still there and that's enough to scare the shit out of most of the mob victims.

The extortion charges you usually see in mob cases are a little more convoluted than the straight up shakedown. For example, the extortion of ILA workers was often more along the lines of bribes for job placement, promotions, etc. The extortion of waste companies in the Franco case involved affiliated companies paying the mob not only for protection but for business advantage as well. Sometimes its hard to tell where the line is but often the "extortion victims" are otherwise willing participants in a lot of cases. You see this in the construction rackets all the time. A restaurant may be forced to buy from a mob food or beverage wholesaler. The mob will use extortionate tactics in otherwise legitimate businesses to get an edge.
All roads lead to New York.

Mob and extortions lol. I remember John Pennisi did a video where he went up to a businessman in Long Island with Sideburns & basically started extorting the guy. The guy just said “get away from me or I’m calling the fbi”. John & Sideburns left immediately
