Yeah that's a good example. Even when they were both on the streets Crea was viewed more as the leader by a lot of guys and of course when Madonna was in prison Crea became the de facto acting boss but wasnt given the official title.

I do have a vague memory of one of Pennisi's earlier videos that's relevant to this discussion (I believe it was one of the MBA & the Button Man episodes that was taken down so unfortunately I can't double check it). He was talking about Dom Cefalu very briefly and first described him as acting boss but then very quickly corrected himself and said "official boss".

I remember that too. Would be nice to get a response from him on that. It's also worth noting that the feds were carrying Cefalu as the official boss until around 2014 or 2015 then we got the GL article from Capeci that stated Pete Gotti still had the title in name and Cefalu was actually the acting boss. And lets not forget the whole controversy of Capeci reporting that Cali had replaced Cefalu only to backtrack on that report.

There's been theories from posters before that Cefalu is a front boss. Now I'm cautious to label him as such since he's held onto the top spot for over a decade but I think it's clear that's not been him that was running the day to day. It looks like Cali was the main guy then at some point Mannino assumed that position possibly before Cali was even murdered per felice's sources.
