Well, a Lucchese associate – and I’ll say his name – Joey Cupcakes Urgitano, starts dating this woman also. I don’t know the timeframe, was it during the Michael Meldish or after, but he starts dating her. She shows him a letter from Mikey Nose sent to her from in prison. He sends her this letter. And in the letter he’s discussing street business, which is a no-no, with the woman. This Cupcakes allegedly takes this letter and says, “Let me have this letter”. He gives it to Matty. Matty goes on a campaign to try to get the Bonanno family to take Mikey Nose down as the boss as a result of this letter. And during this discussion he makes this statement that we don’t recognise this guy, that he’s incarcerated as a boss, and like I said it was not a great statement to make.

I’m not sure of the timing but is it possible that when Matty Madonna was actively trying to get Mancuso taken down over this letter that’s when and why Joe C went and held the vote to take Mancuso down and replace him?

Makes the most sense. Orena made his move when Gotti tried to stop people from recognizing Persico. Even Ralph Natale checked to see if Stanfa was recognized by NY. The Scarfo Jr. situation too came from the Luccheses not recognizing Merlino.

Recognition from other Families plays a huge role in these politics.

Franzese was talking in his most recent VladTV interview about how when he was still in the life, he’d read the NY papers every single morning and every single morning there would be at least one story about a wiseguy or associate or something. He says nowadays he still reads all the NY papers every morning but now he goes 6-8 months at a time without seeing a mob story. My guess is guys like Barney and Mannino see this kinda stuff in the press and wanna distance themselves from the B’s as much as possible. Mancuso legit seems like he has a screw loose.

Yeah she was a Paralegal from Middle Village or Rego Park I believe and was always in whatever would be considered the 'wiseguy' spots in those areas (Barosa mostly). I remember she had a blog and she wrote a really weird cryptic post about a Genovese solider who was supposedly Nicky Santora's cousin and had buried a body in his back yard and constructed a pool over it. I wonder who she was talking about. She also mentioned that Nicky Santora would steal the collection plates when he was an alter boy as a kid lmao
